457 Visa Holder in Australia convert to Contributary Visa

My partner is waiting for his 457 visa to come through and we have a son and grandchildren in Australia. Once we are living and working in Australia can we apply from Oz for a permanent Contributary Parent visa

and would the costs and processing time be the same?

There is no relevance to the 457 application. You can apply for the contributory parent visa whenever you qualify for it.

Thanks for the quick reply, do you know what the processing times are from Australia and will we still need all the usual UK health and police checks etc. Obviously we would need to get these done from the UK while we are still here.

Yes we have already looked into the 143 and passed the balance of family test but then the opportunity for a 457 job offer came up so we thought that would get us out there quicker and we can hopefully apply for permanency through the the parent visa while we are there.

The processing time is a couple of years, so no point doing police and health checks as they will expire. Plenty of people get these done whilst they are in Australia.
