Jamesb2391
Hi Guys im looking at posting a friends birthday present back to the UK. I know you have to put what the contents of the parcel are. However I have mixed items. Can I get away with putting that or will I have to name every item. It's only like clothing and a few Aussie bits and bobs. So won't be anything that is forbidden. Thanks in in advance guys

blossom
I'd put clothing and as much detail as you can. The customs forms do say you must list everything, and no write 'gift' etc.
dmjg
Write down every item type rather than every individual item, eg clothing, souviners, I have a feeling that if its worth over £30 something, the addressee may be up for customs duty, I always ensure i put the value as $50, even if its worth more. LKC
Your friend will have to pay VAT on any gift over 34GBP INCLUDING the postage, so you need to be careful of that. Also bear in mind that Royal Mail also charge something like 8GBP for collection of the tax if the gift is over the limit. We used to send gifts over, but got caught out with this a few times and decided that it wasn't worth it for the small amount you are allowed to send as a gift.
