nursealex
Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice from nurses who have travelled across to present at AHPRA in order to gain registration. Sorry I've already posted this on other forums but I'm desperate for some advice as travelling next week!! I received my notice in principal early December 2015, and I am travelling to Sydney next week. Just trying to get everything in order and looked over the letter again, noticing the following paragraphs towards the bottom - "Timeframe on application for general registration Under section 85 of the National Law, the NMBA has 90 days in which to decide an application. If a decision is not made in this time the application is taken to be refused. We propose to extend the expiry date for your application until the deadline for you to present in person, being 8 December 2016.If you agree to this extension please advise your registration officer by email by 22 December 2015. In the event that you do not comply with the above requests within the stated time, we will take it that you have withdrawn your application under section 80(5) of the National Law, and we will close your application for registration." I did not reply, and I am now panicking that my application will have been closed and I won't be able to join the register when I arrive next week. Has anyone else been in this situation? I have emailed my AHPRA registration officer and I am awaiting a response. Thanks, Alex
stevej
It looks like they want close until Dec 2016 which is your deadline to present in person.
Bushpiglet
I've recently had my AHPRA registration approved and as far as I understand they close the application if you don't reply. Hopefully your AHPRA registration officer can shed some light and reassure you. Hope you get it sorted!x
dmjg
The text is very clear, you needed to reply by 22 dec 2015 and didnt. I would prepare for starting the process again. You might get lucky and get an extension; we did as the email asking for other info for our spouse visa was lost in a junk folder. We only found this out when we phoned asking what was taking so long. We were given another two weeks to get the info in from the date of the call. However this was 2009, and things have tightened up a bit since then. And APHRA is a different organisation too...........

nursealex
Thanks everyone, I got a really quick reply from my case officer confirming that the extension is in place until December 2016, I'm relieved beyond words!! I will now read every last word of important correspondence twice! I think I just took in "notice in principle" and started celebrating! We fly on Thursday and everything's fallen into place now, couldn't be happier. Just the goodbyes here I'm dreading!
