Lass81
Hi all looking for some advice regarding the transfer of an Australian RE motorbike licence to the UK. Can it be exchanged into a CBT licence?? My OH is currently taking lessons and wondering if he should carry on or not as we are hoping to be MBTTUK this year. Any advice much appreciated
Suzukiscottie
I think it's only a full licence that can be exchanged. It would make sense, but I may be wrong. Can't see any benefit to exchanging a learner permit for another. He'd still have to meet the requirements and pass the tests as anyone else would in the UK. If he's already on the journey to a bike licence, then he might be better off carrying on with lessons in Australia and getting the full bike licence here. It's becoming more difficult and bureaucratic to get a bike licence in the UK. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Chris N Lora
If he passes his test here, don't forget he will be on restricted licence IE Red P's for 12 months as long as he is over 25 he will go straight to full licence after. a learners licence will not get him a full one in the UK
bristolman
A bike license is rightly getting more difficult to get, it's a very good thing. Just get one where he will be doing his riding.
CatMoose
Just want to reignite this thread, as I have a full motorbike licence here in Oz now - anyone know if I can get that added to my new photocard licence when I apply for it back in the UK? Save me a whole lot of money and hassle if I don't have to start again with the CBT
