The aboriginal population has much higher suicide rates than the rest of the population which probably drags it up. Unsurprising given the amount of poverty, crime, substance abuse, etc. in those communities. It's a real problem with no easy solution.

They surveyed 3000 people in each country for this survey.

 

I doubt they would have surveyed any Aborigines.

About 3% of Australians are Aboriginal so you'd expect the survey to have about 90 people. But yeah, suicide is probably irrelevant to the survey, although it is interesting that the UK suicide rate is lower but unhappiness higher.

If they just surveyed randomly in the capital cities they may not have encountered any Aboriginal people at all.

 

It is reasonably rare that I see any.

I never see any in my suburb. I seldom see any in Melbourne CBD either.

 

Most are out in the provinicial areas.

Gallup uses telephone surveys in countries where telephone coverage represents at least 80% of the population or is the customary survey methodology. Sometimes it is quite hard to identify Aborigines because some claiming Aboriginality look like white Anglo Saxons.
