nurse specialist migration agent?

Hi all,

Can any nurses/midwives recommend a migration agent who they have used successfully. I have enquired to a few but have been worried about the possible lack of knowledge some of them have around the recent AHPRA changes. I am a diploma MH nurse with a degree in health visiting so appear to be a tad unique (!) I am looking to apply for 189 and our situation is complex so I feel a good agent may be the way forward. Any positive testimonials from anyone who have been helped through the ahpra and anmac maze would be be great :cute:

Thank you :) will look into them.

Can I just ask - as like myself, you are an original diploma nurse with subsequent degree - do you know if you will get the degree points or diploma points for your visa? I only ask because I've seen on a couple of threads and forums that in some cases people are only getting diploma points as original MH nursing was a diploma despite then getting a degree - if that makes sense? I think my paranoia is kicking in!...

I can only assume as I am not at the visa stage my MSc will count over my diploma as will your degree. I absolutely believe if I can get registered with no hassle with my qualifications you can as yours is more clinical than mine as mine was health professional education. I know exactly how you feel though I spent months trying to get answers that I never got any guarantees for. Just get everything together and put in your application to AHPRA the sooner you do that the sooner you will know, it has taken less than 12 weeks for mine and that was over Xmas and new year.

Thank you. Following your advice, I emailed go Matilda last night and they were able to offer lots of clarification. Like you, they cannot see an issue with claiming points for my degree.

My problem is I just can't stop trying to find out every little bit of info out there. My husband says the same as you - just submit the ahpra then you'll know! Lol

thanks once again for your help.

Hi there there have been nurses on here who have obtained AHPRA registration with a dip/he and a degree in HV ( and community nursing as well) so shouldn't have any problems it's the same as if you had topped up diploma to degree .

in relation to visa you will also need a skills assessment by ANMAC the criteria are pretty much the same as for AHPRA , you can get your AHPRA registration first then get a modified skills assessment with ANMAC which I believe costs less.

in relation to claiming qualification points for visa I am no expert but I believe it requires that the degree you have ,be in or closely related to your nominated occupation which it certainly would seem to be ,but this is where a good MA will be able to clarify

make sure they are MARA registered

good luck
