The Bears
Hey Everyone, Just wondering if anyone had any advice for renting our own apartment. We are looking at 1/2 bedroom apartments in Cairns currently. I understand when moving in we will need to pay a Deposit/ Bond and a few weeks upfront. Can anyone give me any information about what sort of Bills we should be expecting to pay. Looking at a month to month contract for internet with Telstra/Optus Any Help with be appreciated! Bungo
Things like..... Gas Electric Water usage Phone Internet TV (Foxtel). Much same as in UK really, but no council tax.
PommyPaul
realestate.com.au is great for browsing apartments so have a nose there for prices on rent and bonds, personally i'd try to go for something will bill included in the rent as you'll be hammering the air con up there... power would be your biggest bill, can't help with cost of bills as i haven't paid a bill over here since 2008... i'm sneaky haha and get jobs that pay all that stuff. The Bears
Thanks Bungo and PommyPaul, Am currently on all the websites looking. I think we can afford the rent its self fine just want to make sure we can afford all the bills before we actually do the jump. Do you not pay Council Rates if you rent? It all seems so daunting compared to renting in the UK! x
JockinTas
No, the owner of the property pays the council rates here.
