miw54
Hi Does anyone know if there is such a thing as 'sheltered accommodation' in NSW i.e. where elderly people can have their own place but within a supervised setting? If so, is this privately or state funded and how is it accessed. Sorry for so many questions at once ! Thank you
MARYROSE02
This site seems to be comprehensive. There are others if you want to Google 'sheltered accomodation in NSW.) http://www.itsyourlife.com.au/
Petals
Aged care is a difficult area and you need to look at the Department of Human Services. It gives you all the details. There are sheltered accommodation sites but they are very hard to come by. My mum who is 96 and lives alone rents in the private market and gets rent assistance. She also gets a council carer. We are in Victoria but its much the same all over Aus. Most homes or hostels want a hefty bond before people go in. They have to have government places as well but of course there are not so many of these. As far as I am concerned the whole way they run aged care is wrong. The haves get and the have nots have to hope they can get. Its not good.
