romay
Hi We are hoping to move to Brisbane around August/September this year and have been told conflicting info about driving in Brisbane. We are aged 63 and 65 and would like to know if we need to take a driving test or will our UK licenses just need to be changed to Aussie ones. Many thanks in advance. Romay Yes you will get conflicting advice, we did eventually get someone at the state admin /licencing centre at Chermside on the northside of Brissie who told us it is a straight exchange for a uk licence holder, after being told various stories about taking the full test or part of it, some of it is about making life difficult and some of it is ignorance about the rules, just keep on insisting that it is straight swop, you are allowed to drive on a uk licence for 6 months or you were in 2005 There are no Oz licences as each state has its own laws and licencing so you get a QLD licence
ceddy
We moved to Brisbane in January and the licence was a straight swap, no problems, very easy to do
