I am in the process of doing completing Engineers Australia skills assessment for

Electrical Engineering Draftsperson. (Electrical Designer/Draftsperson in UK)

 

I was wondering if anybody is currently working as the above position in Oz?

I would like to find out if there are job vacancies out there and also what the pay rate is?

 

Struggling to find any information, in the UK i earn the equivalent of over AUD$200,000 and was wondering if this is possible over in Oz?

We employ civil engineering drafties so I don't know whether there's any form of correlation - and they get paid nothing like $200,000! Very Senior ones might get $45 per hour, more like $30 to $35 for the mid range. If you were independent you could feasibly charge yourself out at $120-$150 p/h or so.

 

But it is a different industry.

How do you go independent in Australia? Is this a real possibility with a 189 visa?

I don't know the conditions of that visa, you'd basically have to set yourself up as your own business and advertise your services.
