Arrived in Canberra - Need Help/Advice

So we arrived in Canberra 2 days back. We got a temporary motel for a week. Still we are looking a for more permanent place. Haven't secured any jobs as well.

Any tips regarding the job market in the financial & banking sector since both of us are qualified management accountants with banking experience. Any recommended job agencies & most probable job hunting strategies?

Your helpful comments will be very much appreciated.

try Hays and Cantile. Look on Seek every day. And try to get security clearance somehow (wait you gotta be a citizen for that). And wishing you better luck than we had after a year here....

You job hunt pretty much the same way you would in the UK. Accounting jobs likely to be through agents and the usual global agents operate here, Michael Page, Hays, etc. www.seek.com.au is also a good reference point.

Unfortunately you have come to Canberra when the Government job sector is being/has been cut and there are less jobs going and more people looking. However, as you are accounting and banking sector related you have that going for you. The other good thing is that now it is easier to find houses to rent or buy, previously the housing market was very competitive. As mentioned previously seek.com.au is the main site people use for job hunting. Good luck in your job hunting.
