Ex Royal Marine / Maritime Experience / Oil Rig training

Good morning,

My husband and I are considering a move over to Australia with our 7 month old baby.

I am an Australian citizen so visas are not a problem.

He will only move if he can get a job over there as doesn't want to be unemployed.

He has 12 years experience as a royal marine, doing numerous tours of Iraq, Afghanistan and doing maritime security off the coast of Africa. He left the military in 2012 then did a few maritime transits privately off the coast of Africa.

Since then he has been working in London doing access management (wanted to be in UK as I had baby).

He has just completed several courses to try get offshore. Bosiet, mist, blaster/painter, medical, confined space, rope access, working at height and opito h2s.

Does anyone know what option would be best to persue in Australia? Continue with maritime security or try on the rigs. We were speaking to an Australian man and he suggested doing rig security, that would be a good option.

If anyone can provide rough guides of salaries too that would be great.

We were thinking of moving to Brisbane as I have family there.

Thank you in advance

Thanks for your reply

He is completing a blaster painter course and done rope access so is hoping to get some experience in on the rigs before we move.

Hopefully that will get him some work in oz. We'll give that website a look... Cheers
