  1. Good evening My partner had medical done and there were some issues High blood pressure Type 2 diabetes (diet controlled) Artificial knees 10 years ago They wanted further information from his GP explaining his high blood pressure - said it was because he suffers white coat syndrome and had normal readings when monitored at home. His application status has changed on immi account to Health clearance provided – no action required (8455124) Does this mean he has passed the medical or can he fail? Thanks in advance
  2. Thank you for the useful information. It's so hard trying to transfer over but sure we'll be fine for work once there and established its just daunting going over with no work lined up. Don't think he would rejoin the forces again... Never say never though
  3. :arghh: My husband is an ex royal marine, 12 years service - various tours of afghan, iraq and off the somalian coast. He left the marines in 2012, did maritime security for a while but has been based in the UK doing security since our son was born. He has tried to get into the oil/gas industry for approximately 3 months with no luck so far... completed Confined Space & Rescue, Working at Height, Rope Access OPITO H2S, OPITO BOSIET, OPITO MIST, OPITO Blaster / Painter and Compressed Air EBS (Emergency Breathing System) courses but had no success in getting offshore as yet. We are planning to move to Australia in the near future (im an Aussie so he should get a partner visa). He doesn't want to make the move without the prospect of some work, so was hoping for some experience offshore before the big move. Poly welding is meant to be a growing industry in Australia - he was considering going down that route, but he's not sure what to do. Any suggestions as what he could be concentrating on to get work in Oz? He's emailed a few companies and don't seem to be getting any response, so is stuck where to concentrate his efforts. Any advice would be welcomed
  4. Thanks for your reply He is completing a blaster painter course and done rope access so is hoping to get some experience in on the rigs before we move. Hopefully that will get him some work in oz. We'll give that website a look... Cheers
  5. Good morning, My husband and I are considering a move over to Australia with our 7 month old baby. I am an Australian citizen so visas are not a problem. He will only move if he can get a job over there as doesn't want to be unemployed. He has 12 years experience as a royal marine, doing numerous tours of Iraq, Afghanistan and doing maritime security off the coast of Africa. He left the military in 2012 then did a few maritime transits privately off the coast of Africa. Since then he has been working in London doing access management (wanted to be in UK as I had baby). He has just completed several courses to try get offshore. Bosiet, mist, blaster/painter, medical, confined space, rope access, working at height and opito h2s. Does anyone know what option would be best to persue in Australia? Continue with maritime security or try on the rigs. We were speaking to an Australian man and he suggested doing rig security, that would be a good option. If anyone can provide rough guides of salaries too that would be great. We were thinking of moving to Brisbane as I have family there. Thank you in advance
