Medical/Visa Process

Ok, I spent a year in Aus a few years back on a working holiday visa. I have wanted to go back permanently ever since.

I can go on a skilled worker visa under both Engineering Manager and Biomedical Engineer. I have been managing Biomedical Engineering functions for five years at a extremely high level in the organisation I work for. I have been an Engineering Manager for 10 years, but my first trade was in Telecommunications. I made the switch in 2009 after I came back to the UK after my working holiday.

I am in the process of gaining an IENG with the IET, and looking at doing some basic training with an Aus institute.

The main reason why I want to go back is the climate. I am disabled and I found the climate was much better suited than the UK. I have a large prosthetic bone in my right leg which was fitted when I had cancer at the age of 18.

I was talking to a Macmillan Nurse on Thursday when I was at hospital, she doesn't seem to think there would be an issue with an application or medical. But I am curious as to what the medical entails. Can anyone advise?

Also, I am a British Citizen, I speak native English, would I need to complete an IELT assessment? It is the only language I can speak or understand.

Any help would be appreciated.

Medicals are basic. Blood test, chest X-ray, BP, eye test, weight, that sort of thing. Plus you need to give the doctor a verbal response to a set of Q's about your medical history.

If you are concerned about your leg and having had cancer, have your specialist write a letter giving full info, that it's all good now etc. Take as much info with you to your medical to back this up. Also be prepared your medical may be referred and that you will be required to provide more info or medical tests for them.

Speak to a good agent if you are worried, they can advise.

Hi,

Our daughter has a hip condition which we were also worried out. We asked her consultant to provide a letter detailing all her surgery and information etc and we took that along with us to the medical and the doctor actually scanned that in and submitted it with her medical. Medical was fine, no delays or anything and we all had our PR visa's a couple of weeks after. We used an agent and just mentioned it before just in case they thought it might make the process a bit more complex but was fine - phew!

OK, so nearly a year on, I have almost got my accreditation sorted. I had to get registered in the UK first. Once that comes through I should be able to get the Engineering Australia registration sorted.

I spoke with my consultant in November, he has said he will support the application and write any letters I need. He will even refer me to a specialist in Melbourne. Turns out they do a lot of research together.

This is something similar to what I have http://www.hindawi.com/journals/sarcoma/2011/545104.fig.001.jpg

I'm just hoping there is nothing to worry about. I saw this the other day http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/tyrone-sevillas-autism-disorder-means-he-and-his-mum-will-be-deported/story-fneuzlbd-1227290348451

I am going to contact George Lombard this week to see how much he is going to cost and get some advice. I need to lose a few excess kilos and try and get as fit as I can, don't want to let anything get in my way.

I did go to Australia for just over a month over Christmas, spent a couple of weeks with friends in Melbourne, had Christmas at a friends house (ironically they are looking at moving to Ireland) then Sydney for New Years. Was at the Opera House for New Years Eve.
