chipperroz
Hi Everyone, I'm not sure if we are mad or not but after years of travelling back and forth to Australia, we have finally decided to make the move to Brisbane at the end of this year on a parent visa. Although we have a good life in the UK.....we love playing golf, walking, cycling and going to the gym, the family draws us to Australia....pretty scary stuff. We have an apartment in Spring Hill, Brisbane, so our first move will be there and then we plan to take our time to look for somewhere to settle. We like the feel of Samford Valley as its close to amenities, golf course and a train ride into the city but would like to look at other areas. Any advice would be gratefully received. VERYSTORMY
Do you have the visa yet? When you say parent visa do you mean contributory parent visa or last remaining relative?

Roz Samford Valley is nice. Before you decide, have a look at the Sunshine Coast Hinterland too.

Simonrbh
Hi Chipperroz Myself and my Aussie partner are in the process of moving over. My partner has a position starting in Aug in Morayfield. We have a 3 week hol arranged for May to activate my visa, see family and do some initial background stuff like Medicare and Tax File Number applications, set up bank accounts etc. We've been looking at areas to settle, renting first, then buying in the next 12 months. Areas we like are Samford Valley, Narangba, Joyner, Cashmere and maybe Bribie Island. We like Dayboro as it's close to family but very pricey! Have you you found the process of selling up and moving from the UK easy? Lots to do! I hope it all goes smoothly for you. TTFN Si.
chipperroz
selling up was the easy bit...we sold our house last year and are now in rented accommodation. Our stumbling block is selling the business - not easy. To switch on the visa we have to be in Australia by 10th December so we are hoping we can sort things out by then. If not, we will consider switching on the visa and coming back to the UK to complete the sale of the business. We haven't started looking at the moving process yet so, yes, lots to do. Hope your move goes well. Keep in touch and thanks for the tips of place to live. Roz
