Quinkla
You will need to get health and character checks for non-migrating dependents. The DIBP is also likely to wonder why, if they are dependents, they are not intending to migrate with you.
MaggieMay24
Why can he not provide the checks, is he actively serving overseas? If it's a matter of taking longer than the CO has requested, you can let them know there will be a delay and when he can provide what's needed. Quinkla
what is the usually reason for such situation? Non migrating dependents may choose to migrate later. It is easier, politically, to refuse a visa to a whole family before anyone moves to Australia than to refuse a visa to a dependent once their partner/parents/etc. are already living in Australia. If the Australian Government did allow non-migrating relatives to bypass the initial checks, you could bet that families with a "difficult" member (i.e. one with poor health or bad criminal record) would leave the difficult member off the initial application and then submit an application for that member once the family has relocated, hoping for higher thresholds, MRT applications or ministerial intervention.
