Monkeynutzz
Hello all! Any new people from the Hills District fancy a meet up at the Ettamogah pub Rouse Hill/Kellyville Ridge?? We are a family of 4, late 30s maybe early 40's!! And twin boys aged 10. Moved from Nottingham to Castle Hill 2 years ago and now moved to Kellyville Ridge/ edge of The Ponds. Boys due to go to high school Jan 2015 and we would all love to meet some new local friends. It would be great to meet up with more UK folk!! If anyone is new to the area, we would be happy to help, as long as you don't ask us too many questions about Medicare! - still a mystery to us. if anyone is up for a couple of beers on a Saturday about 4pm ish - let me know. W8ENN
Is everyone still meeting on Saturday? Do we all need to wear pink carnations and have a copy of the telegraph under our arms, or do us pommies just stand out? I noticed there's a Bon Jovi tribute on that night and then St Patricks day celebrations at the Fiddler the next day. It's a party weekend ;-)
PomsFromCheshire
Hi Everyone, We are moving to the Castle Hill area on 8th April '14 from Cheshire area and would be great to meet up with other families from the UK. We are a family of 3, both (very) early 40's with a 13yr old son. As with many others, we do not have any friends/family in Sydney so looking to meet new friends/families. As you can imagine, the first couple of weeks will be hectic with house/car/furniture search. Initial 2 weeks we will be staying in Castle Hill, but also looking at Kellyville, Baulkham, Winston Hills longer term, depending on suitable High School. Would be interesting to hear your views on High schools in these suburbs, are there any families that already have children attending any? So, if there is anyone fancy meeting up, please let us know Cheers Steve/Lisa
Ellie 2
Don't have any children at high school now so my opinion could be out dated, although all Hills schools do have good reputations. Here's a list of the government High Schools. Baulkham Hills (selective), Crestwood HS, Model Farms HS, Kellyville HS. Have a look at their websites. There are also some very good private schools. Oh, the ones I listed are in the three areas you mentioned. There is also Northmead HS which was an excellent high school but now specialises in the arts so don't know if it is still good academically. Monkeynutzz
Hello Lisa/Steve all areas you mention are good ones. My boys (twins) aged 10 go to high school next jan. They will go to The Ponds (not yet built). Don't know much about the private schools here but most public schools all good. we lived in Castle Hill for a year - loved it, now moved Kellyville Ridge also love it here too. A few of us Brits mets up last week for a few drinks so there are a few of us here in the hills! Let me know if u need any help with anything and post on here when you arrive, we would love to meet up. julie & Steve
chappers1977
Hi, We've also recently moved to the area (Dec 13') living in Northmead at present. We're just in process of applying for high schools too as my daughter is in Yr 6 currently. Were in the catchment area for Northmead High school ( specialist in creative/ performing arts school) & having attending the open evening there this week, I'm happy to send her there. It's ideal in terms of our current location, as we're most likely to stay in the local area or Winston Hills/Baulkham hills in the future. We also really like Castle Hill, however house prices here are going up & up & up :-( We've only just kind of settled ourselves having spent the last couple of months sorting the house/job/cars/furniture etc....it's been hectic!!!! One thing I would mention....and you may know this already, so sorry for sounding like I'm teaching you to suck eggs ha! We didn't realise that open homes to rent are mainly on a Saturday. We moved from the city to a serviced holiday apt on a Saturday & then effectively lost a week of being able to view property, as we missed out on that whole day. We simply didn't know! I thought I had researched well.....but had failed to pick up on that one up!!! Anyway, would be good to meet up when you're settled- all the best on your travels!!! Exciting times ahead!
