Alan Collett
As a business owner, maybe one of the streams under subclass 188 - failing which possibly what we call a self sponsored subclass 457 visa (this is a long term temporary residency visa) leading to permanent residency under the Employer Nomination Scheme after 2 years working in Australia on the 457 visa. Best regards.
mgriffi
Hi alan having looked quicky at that visa-the only one would be the business innovation scheme. Could that mean he could start his own business over here if he meets all the requirements?
Alan Collett
Hi alanhaving looked quicky at that visa-the only one would be the business innovation scheme. Could that mean he could start his own business over here if he meets all the requirements? He would have to start his own business if he wants to live in Australia for the long term - the 188 visa is a provisional or temporary residency visa, with permanent residency usually following under subclass 888 once a business (or two businesses combined) has been owned and has been operating for at least a couple of years, with certain other criteria to be met relating to turnover, monies invested in the business, net assets in Australia, etc. Please let me know via email or PM (click on my name to the left) if you or your friend would like to discuss this strategy in more detail. Best regards.

Adam Grey
I'd advise looking at his eligibility under general skilled migration before any business visa route.
