Hi There we are taking our pet staffie with us it is costing 2500.00 for him. He is on the large side though.

Using golden arrow shippers they arrange everything. Just had to take him to the vets for blood tests.

We got in contact with them a couple of months ago. They apply for an import permit. Once this is granted they contact the quarentine for you and arrange a place.

All been straight forward at the mo. He is booked to fly on the 10th sep. Not that we've got our visa yet!! :D But we are being positive about the whole thing. The quarentine stations are really busy and there is normally a 3-4 month waiting list apparently. so didnt want him to be the hold up!!

They have to spend 30 nights in the quarentine station. Bear in mind though that he would have to be with the shippers 3 days before and flight is 2 days (ish).

Hope this info helps.

Martin - we're planning to take our dog too. Not booked anything yet, but got some quotes. Tried to find out about doing it direct with airline (anything to save a few quid!) but turns out Qantas won't let you do this. So resigned to paying an agency fee! Expecting to pay about £2000, plus quarantine at the other end. Have heard from several people that it is necessary to book dogs in well in advance, because of waiting lists.

(I suppose one option is to ship the dog out a few weeks early, then can have no dog whilst doing final packing up of everything and saying goodbye to everyone, then have dog with you sooner at the other end)

Hayley - is your £2500 with Golden Arrow including the quarantine?

If anyone has experience of using transport companies who have been good (or not!) then please share!
