butterflyheadingsouth
Hi all, having moved to melbourne from the UK in June 2012, my husband and I have now decided we want to settle in Hobart. We start our jobs in February and ideally want to try and buy a house for then. We want to be a maximum of 25 minutes from the city centre in rush hour with reasonable local amenities and a 3-4 bed house with garden for our family to grow into (no set budget). Where would you recommend we live and why? Trying to canvas as many opinions as possible before starting our search! thanks
Skani
My preference is for the southern suburbs of Hobart...anywhere south from the city centre as far as Kingston or Blackmans Bay should be within the 25 minutes time frame. Personally I like this area because of its proximity to beaches and mountain...and everything else really...without having to cross the bridge. runslikeafish
I agree with Skani! Sandy Bay and Blackmans Bay are probably my two favourite suburbs although a large house with a nice garden in a good part of Sandy Bay may be expensive. I would include the eastern shore suburbs of Bellerive, Howrah and Tranmere as well.
Dorkymum
We just moved here a couple of weeks ago, so I'm not as well informed as most of the other forum members yet, but we are currently staying in North Hobart which seems quite lively and accessible. If you're looking for a good sized place with a garden that's good for a family though, I second (third?) the Sandy Bay suggestion.
