We just moved here a couple of weeks ago, so I'm not as well informed as most of the other forum members yet, but we are currently staying in North Hobart which seems quite lively and accessible. If you're looking for a good sized place with a garden that's good for a family though, I second (third?) the Sandy Bay suggestion.

Hello everyone! Am new to the forum - have just posted a wee intro in the Welcome section. Arrived in Hobart from the UK a week ago. Am looking for advice about mobile phones. We are going to be living in Hobart for the next 4/5 years. Likely to travel around Tassie for weekends, but not too fussed about coverage then. Have friends in Perth & Melbourne, so would like coverage when we visit them. And would love a company that offer a good bundle for calls to UK. Are Telstra really the best option? They have already driven me half crazy trying to get a landline and broadband set up, so if there are others that have decent coverage here I would love to hear about them! Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone. Have just registered on the site, although have used quite a few of the threads to gather info over the last few months. I arrived here just over a week ago with my husband and four year old son. We'd been living in Hertfordshire for two years prior to that, although husband is American and I'm Scottish. Likely to be here for at least the next 4/5 years due to husband's job at UTAS. Finding Hobart very friendly so far, although feeling a bit frustrated with trying to get phones and Internet set up. Telstra seem to keep finding new hoops for us to jump through. I'll look forward to chatting to some of you here or there over the coming months.
