Guest Pinhead
How much net income (after tax) do people think you'd need to have a retired comfortable lifestyle living in Oz based in Melbourne but travelling around, etc? Assuming you're a single person and you own your own city apartment outright without a mortgage. I was figuring around $40K net with probably 4 domestic holidays a year. Any views? Quoll
That would probably be about right. Most Aussies would be retiring on less than that so you should be fine.

Guest Liam
Westpac bank do an annual survey and they have found that a couple can retirewith a reasonable lifestyle including domestic holidays on about $47,000 per annum. This is a good guide and I have found it to be very close to reality with my clients. On top of this you should also always have a emergency fund of $10K for unforseen events. best wishes Liam
