Guest The Pom Queen
why can you hold a koala in some states but not others? weird. The koala is listed as ‘vulnerable to extinction’ under the Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995 because of declining numbers and the ongoing pressure of threats. Therefore NSW and Victoria are very tight with the guidelines. Personally as an ex ranger I do not agree with them being touched or held full stop. Have you ever been to one of the zoos where there is a huge queue to hold the koala, these poor babies are passed from one person to the next. Ok some zoos rotate the koalas but I still find it unfair. The only time I think its ok is if they are being rescued or hand raised (remind me to send you the photo of my baby) . Like the wombat the koala will soon be extinct if things carry on as they are. Personally I prefer the Southern koalas over the Northern ones, a lot of people don't even know there is a difference, then you have the drop bears
Guest The Pom Queen
you're not meant to hold a koala in any state?? Well I did and a kangaroo too! You can in Qld and SA but not in NSW and Vic, that's for koalas, for Roos they are classed as pests so they don't care
