Using Medicals from 457 for187 Visa

We seem to be on the final leg of the 187 RSMS process which we started in April. Kathleen as a nurse undertook a full medical for our 457 visa last year. We had hoped that as this was only done in July 2012 (arrived in Oz on 457 in Sept 2012), they could use that for the RSMS visa too. I had not done any medicals for the 457 visa, so had to do them for the RSMS visa. We supplied a letter from the hospital in the UK confirming Kathleen had the medical and which Immigration office the results were sent to.

 

The CO has asked for some further documentation, one of which is medicals for Kathleen. Should we clarify with the CO that they can/can't use the previous medical? Or should we just go and book a new medical? At $300+ it's not the end of the world but still would be nice not to have to pay out again.

I think you will find that medicals are only valid for a 12 month period, after that you will need new ones.

We assumed this was the case but as we are still within the 12 month period (just), that it could have been done. We have emailled the CO to ask, but suspect she will ask for a new one to be done.

They have to be still less than 12 months old when the visa is granted when did she actually do the medical?

She did them late July 2012. So it is tight in terms of it being within the 12 months. We expect the need for her to do new ones just to be safe.
