job offer

Hi,

Hope someone can shed some light on our problem! We have been talking to a migration company who has advised us that as hubbys business isn't on the skills list our only option is to go over on a business visa! He runs his own business as a print engineer and has done for 12 years and worked in the industry for a further 6 years previously! As he learnt his trade on the job and on manufacturers training courses he has no supporting apprentiship. He is currently talking to a company doing the same business in Oz and they are interested in offering him a position, but are unwilling (because of costs to them) to sponsor him. Surely this offer counts towards something along with the shortage of trained specialist engineers in this area. Is it really pointless him talking to this company further? AAAAARGH!! I am sooo confused:wacko:

TIA

Helen

Hi Helen,

I am not to sure sorry about visa's for setting up your own business however I believe that for a business to sponsor would probably be about the same cost as to apply yourself or using an agent?

We ourselves are doing it very differently and through an RPL - Recognition of Prior Learning as my husband had no qualifications recognised in Austrailia then we are applying for the visa directly. Maybe you should talk with an agent or look at the costs involved in contributing towards the sponsorship.

I am sure somebody else could probably offer you better advice who has gone over setting up there own company but check out the following link http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/skilled-workers/visa-permanent.htm this will probably explain the costs involved for somebody sponsoring you so that you can weigh this up against any other options.

Also take a look at the RPL to see if this would suit you better if you wish to apply without company sponsorship.
