karmen128
I'm currently holding a Temporary Resident visa (subclass 485) and it will expire in January 2014. I cannot apply 189 visa because my occupation (Chemist) is not on the SOL list. I'm thinking to ask my current company to sponsor me. If they're willing to sponsor me a 457 visa, will my 457 visa be effective after my 485 visa expire? Or it will be effective immediately? Rupert
Is the job on the CSOL, because this is necessary for the 457 sponsorship. And then if it is on the CSOL it means it is eligible for state sponsored 190 visa, have you looked into that, it is a better option. blossom
When the 457 is granted your 485 will stop.
karmen128
yes it is on the CSOL, currently my occupation only on the WA SS list and this requires a job offer in WA.....it was on NSW list before as well but now NSW close their application... karmen128
Seeking advice: Now I need to make a choice, if my occupation is not on the new NSW SS list when it come up in July, my only option is WA SS. However, for WA SS, I need to get a job offer in WA. If I ask my current company in Sydney to sponsor me, then I will be on 457 visa but makes me harder to get a job in WA since the company need to take on the 457 visa. If I'm still on 485 visa, its easier to get another job.... What should I do...?
blossom
Mmmm, personally, if it is only on the wa list I would move straight there and set to work finding a sponsor. It is a really hard one though. Or if you are happy with your employer, and they are willing you could go for the 457 and ask them to sponsor for pr after two years (or earlier if you can pass the skills assessment). karmen128
I'm going to submit my skills assessment as I will have one year working experience in total (with previous company + the current one) at the end of June. My occupation is chemist, do you think chemist still stay on the new NSW list?
