lenak29
Hi All, When applying for Perm Residency with an Aussie partner, do you know if it is correct that if we register the relationship with the NSW registry of births, deaths and marriages that the waiting time to be eligible for Perm residency is waived, and that we can apply for it directly? Peach
The waiting time for permanent residency is not waived by registering a relationship, only the 12 month defacto requirement.
blossom
Agreed. You still stay a temporary resident for the first two years (one if you have a child together I believe).
SkippyChick11
If you've got proof of being in a relationship for over 3 years, you may be able to skip the temp period of the visa and go straight to PR. If you have been together for that long, I would doubt that you'd need the extra evidence (and cost) of registering your relationship with BDM.
