State and territory nominated skilled visa subclasses 475, 487, 176 and 886

This information is for you if you have applied for subclass 475, 487 (Skilled Regional Sponsored) or 176, 886 (Skilled Sponsored) visas.

Through SkillSelect online, state and territory governments are now able to directly nominate people online who have expressed an interest in skilled migration. As a result the department is working to finalise the state and territory government nominated visa applications made before the availability of SkillSelect.

Processing for subclasses 475, 487, 176 and 886 visa applications

Where a state or territory government nomination has been approved, your visa application will be given priority processing group 3 status and will be allocated to a visa processing officer.

Nomination evidence

If you want to provide information relevant to your nomination, please use the following email address.

Email: gsm.documents@immi.gov.au

Evidence may include:

  • a completed Form 1100 State/Territory Nomination submitted to the department by the nominating state or territory government (this is our preferred form of evidence) or
  • written correspondence confirming nomination from the state or territory government.

Eligible occupations

Your nominated occupation must be on either of the following:

  • Skilled Occupation List (in effect at time of visa application lodgement)
  • current Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List.

Further information on the occupation lists is available on our website.

See: Skilled Occupation Lists

When will my visa application be considered?

If you have an approved nomination

Your visa will be processed in line with the current priority processing direction and migration program planning levels.

You can expect your application to be allocated to a visa processing officer by 31 March 2013.

If you do not have an approved nomination

Your application will be processed after 31 March 2013. We need to review each application and the information you have provided regarding your nomination.

If you have not been contacted by a visa processing officer about your application by 31 March 2013, you should do one of the following:

  • ask your nominating state or territory government to send evidence of your nomination directly to the department
  • send evidence of your nomination to us.
    Email: gsm.documents@immi.gov.au

Please do not contact us about the status of your application until after 31 March 2013 as we cannot verify your nomination status before this date.

Information on priority processing arrangements is available on our website.

See: Allocation Dates for General Skilled Migration Applications

Can someone explain this. is it good news for people with state nomination only? or as they saying that Family Sponsored 176 will also have thier cases looked into? Thanks, while this is plain English, but it's still Latin to those tired of waiting.....

My understanding is that it is just the state sponsored priority 5 applicants at this stage and not family sponsored - that is what the statement says.

South Australia have provided information that they have sent emails (to the email address they had on file) to all of the people they consider they waiting in this category.

So if you are South Australia state sponsored between Sept 2007 and June 2010 and in Cat 5 and have not received an email from them you should maybe contact them - there are details on their web site on how to reach them.

Hi Shresthaz,

Thanks for posting the table information regarding the allocated dates for general skilled migration... I have the same question as you, is it 5 weeks after submitting EOI or after receiving state nomination?

If you find out please let me know... Thank-you Kirsty ")

5 weeks after you lodge application, after you have received invitation to apply from your EOI.

Hi,

I have applied for Vic SS on 17th december 2012 under Software tester category. On 17march 2013 i am completing 12 weeks of time. Today is 11th march 2013. I am losing my patience. Will i get it or will it be rejected? Will it take exactly 12 weeks only or may it take long? If long what is the maximum time it can take?

Kindly reply.

Dear All,

I have got visa 489 and was sposored by NSW state government. My visa condition is to live/work/stdy in regional area but I am not sure that whether it means all regional areas in Australia or the regional area of NSW? Currently I am living in Adelaide which is a regional area. Could someone help me with my question please. If I am staying in adelaide, will I be able to get PR after two years? or I have to go to live in regional area of NSW. Thanks All

If the visa is a New South Wales one then its New South Wales where you should live as far as I am aware. There are a couple in Brisbane being deported because they applied for citizenship and the migration department found out they were not in the right suburb. You do not appear to be in the right State.

Suggest you contact a migration agent and seek some advice.
