Looking for Ringers for Sophie Downs Station, Western Australia. Must be able to ride a horse and have cattle mustering experience. Good Wage and accommodation. Great experience available for all who are keen, especially if anyone out there is keen on bullcatching with a bullbuggy, and throwing a bull off of a horse.. further information or call 08) 9168 8913.

Some of these Aussie job advertisers need to get real. Last heard the above skills wern't too prevelant in Milton Keynes or Tamworth. They will still offer WOOF arrangements for that.

But was the advert aimed just at MK and Tamworth??

FYI, there is a Tamworth in NSW that is in the centre of a large and prosperous cattle area. How do you know it wasn't aimed there??

Cheers, Bobj.

Erm...another memory...sorry.whistling.gif

Have seen on a few occasions, young bullcatchers go into town to the Toyota dealer, point out a 4wd, pay cash from a huge roll of notes, take the vehicle to the welders' shop, get the front end modified and have a seat put on a front mudguard and buggaroffski back to the bull bashing. They nearly always had a few old truck tyres strapped to the more vulnerable parts of the 4wds. Two or three months later, they would buy another 4wd and start again.

These young men would charge after the old scrub bulls with no thought for self preservation, tip a scrubby, tie its legs and call up the truck to winch the bull up on the tray.

These days, about 80% of the work is done by helicopters. Indeed, VRD has, I think, 4 helicopters.

Cheers, Bobj.
