Bobj
72% of seafood in Oz is imported. A lot of what isn't, I do not like such as baramundi. Tastes like pike, which is everywhere else considered inedible. Or or things such as blue swimmer crab, which is inferior to other crab speciies I'm sure your tastebuds are twisted, Stormy. Actually comparing pike to barra, I can understand it if you buy farmed barra, but get sea barra and you will understand the huge difference. Cheers, Bobj. Bobj
Bara and pike are very similar. Have tried pike? I have. No, don't buy my seafood from a super market, for the same reason indent buy any food from them. I buy most from a local fisherman actually. But, that means a major issue with choice and buying sub par species. No, I haven't been to a fresh sea food market in Oz. Though did go to that thing in freo, which was a bit ofma joke. I asked what was a frozen import and struggled to get much that wasn't. You say your travels? Oz is the 10 country we have lived in and with the exception of the Congo, has the poorest sea food I have ever had. Even Uganda which is land locked was better with some amazing fresh water fish. Maybe moreso than you have. I used to specialise in pike fishing in Yorkshire and I now specialise in barra fishing...and eating the sea-run barra.:yes:The big difference is the freshwater fish taste muddy and weedy and pike are only from freshwater. As I said earlier, your tastebuds must be twisted. I too, have lived in many countries and eaten their fish. Australian seafood is far better than any of those. But then again...It's only a matter of taste. Cheers, Bobj.
