Candygirl
Hi, I have just received an online quote with Medbank for health insurance for a couple. Top cover with no excess and quote came out at $207 per month. Is this a reasonable amount? We are 42 and 41 years of age. How much do you currently pay? We are weighing up our options as we have received an invite for a 489 FS visa and are not sure whether to hold out for a 189 visa just for the medical cover. Thanks. Quinkla
As noted on the healthcare thread, most private insurance covers relatively little anhd you are liable to end up thousands out of pocket if you ever have to have inpatient treatment - even with insurance. If you are looking at insurance to cover for healthcare rather than just get around the Medicare levy then look very carefully about how they deal with the gap and what their annual maxima are for extras. Candygirl
Thanks for the advice. We have checked the info for Medicare and it seems that we may not be able to receive Medicare treatment at all as we are not residents of the UK (we have lived in Spain for 8 years).
