Lambethlad
Another visitor to Oz died yesterday after eating toxic mushrooms. There have been 4 deaths (all foreigners) in the last 2 years. These things are so toxic a mouthful can kill you. The toxin destroys the liver and death usually occurs within 2 days. Wild Oz mushrooms are plentiful and delicious but just be careful - don't eat anything unless you are absolutely sure it is safe.

Quoll
One of the worrying things about the couple in Canberra who died recently was that they prepared the mushrooms in a restaurant kitchen - just for themselves but they could have killed customers if they had decided to use the freebie mushies to cut costs. If it grows under an oak tree, dont eat it, rule of thumb in Canberra where deathcaps are quite common.
