chris2011
A very, very experienced friend of mine (a Dr of Mining Engineering no less) wants to work in the Australian mines. Trouble is that any job he applies for he is asked whether he has "Mine Surveyor’s Certificate Grades 1 and 2" (http://www.dmp.wa.gov.au/documents/F...neSurveyor.pdf). As these certificates are peculiar to Australia he does not. Already hugely qualified and having reached the requirements stipulated to qualify for the certificates over and over again, does he really have to go through the assessment process or is there a way for his previous experience and education (university degree & Phd in Mining Engineering) to be taken into account in order to obtain the certificate? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as my friend wants to avoid having pack up his life in the UK, to come to Australia to obtain the certificate before he can secure a job. VERYSTORMY
I don't see why they are requiring this. Not if he is applying as a engineer. His simplest route would be to come over on a 457 visa. Which is a sponsored work visa. Tell him to look at infomine.com and seek.com.au. Pm me with more details of experience and qualifications and I will have a word at work. When you say he is experienced. Is that actually in mining?
