pintpot
As per the above, just wonder if anyone has good experience of skiing around Thredbo/Perisher and how reliable snowfall is. Looking at "official" websites but also after a bit of personal experience Thinking of going there for a long weekend in the winter.....we were both avid skiers but haven't been for over 5 years now since our son came on the scene Thanks in advance
JoandJon
Traditionally I know on Mt Buller it's Queen's Birthday weekend, not sure if it's the same in the Snowy
Freckleface
My daughter usually goes from the beginning of August through to the middle of September as she says the snow falls are more reliable during that period. My nephew on the other hand isn't as fussy and normally starts going in July.
JoandJon
Ermmmm, just realised my post doesn't really make sense..... LOL! Traditionally it OPENS .... blah blah blah. Plus a lot of resorts also offer a 'snow guarantee' system, where you can rebook on another weekend if there's no snow ...
Jackinabox
Went mid July time for a week in 2007. Stayed in Jyndabine and drove into the resort every morning (35 mins ish). Needed to stop to fit snow chains (compulsory) every morning due to the amount of snow fall. Plenty of snow for us then at Perisher Blue. Had a ball. Kids loved it. Season ends in September. Have skiied for years and found Perisher Blue to be more than adequate. Great ski schools for kids and all the usual resort goodies youd expect. Can get quite busy at entrance/eateries etc but runs well suited to most. We enjoyed it and will definitley be going back. Another piece of heaven that Australia has to offer. I'm not expecting the world's most thrilling skiing, but that's not the point. Quite apart from us being well rusty, we're looking for somewhere we can easily go for a couple of weekends this winter, and maybe get the boy started. If he takes to it well, then maybe we'll look for a week's skiiing next year and go to NZ or something. We were looking at mid July onwards so it looks like that's feasible Cheers :-)

Booked him into the morning ski school sessions and picked him up after lunch. He then stayed using the magic carpet in the afternoon.
