  1. Hey All Just wondering if anyone has been nominated via EOI for on a 491 visa this year and how long you may have waited? Many Thanks
  2. Just wondered if anyone has recently had a skills assessment decision with vetassess and could share the processing time? Hearing mixed messages on how long it might take etc?
  3. I agree Neil or at least i think i do! Melbourne is a really cool place, poorly governed by thats enough story but its just not really what i pictured what i thought about moving over from the UK... The winter is just a bit to long for me and getting a pool would be pointless really...
  4. Thanks Mate! will look into it.... Its such a big decision, im hoping fate will assist on this one and show us the correct path when we come over in November, what ever that may be!
  5. Thanks Ben, what are your thoughts on any other areas? Generally positives of life in WA and negatives ? When we say rough, what are we talking? coming from London and now living in Melbourne we are have different understandings of this
  6. So stay clear of Leederville! I was looking at Hilary's, Woodvale and Mullaloo anyone familar with those areas if not Coogee or Rockingham! But Rockinham is so cheap something has to be wrong with that place!
  7. Out of curiosity what Perth Suburb do you live in?
  8. Curtains drawn, paranoid, stand off type of people! Maybe you should be making your way to Melbourne hahaha
  9. Holiday is booked for 4 nights as its all i could squeeze with work and i have been to Perth multiple times so it wont be my first visit! And that is the plan stay in an Airbnb in the areas we are looking at but keen for anyone's thoughts on PERTH vs MELBOURNE from anyone who has lived in both?
  10. I should add that the Cons in my mind are below - Work opportunities for me are less -Might not like the area we are in as much -Kids having to adjust in a new school eldest is 6 (Prep) -Starting again on all levels. - Might not like Perth as much as Melbourne -Less things going on -Isolation (Not that we travel that much out of VIC) -Spiders HAHA
  11. Im currently living in Melbourne in a lovely suburb leafy (Rosanna)! my wife and i have great well paid jobs, we have a holiday home in Inverloch and life is good..... But i have got it into my mind that Perth life might be better and I'm keep to get peoples thoughts. We don't have any family connections in Melbourne and have some friends but only a couple a ones I would consider close. Primary drivers.. - Weather - Beaches -Outdoor lifestyle the weather supports -Cheaper housing as we live in a 3 bedroom and have 3 children so an upgrade is a must whatever happens. -Better for families with young kids. -House with a pool and weather to support it.
  12. Yeah that sucks! i spoke to WA education department, it appears different in different states! in WA there is no cost
  13. I called the number on it and spoke to them and they looked up the visa for me and it has no cost against it! i doubt it changes depending on the year
  14. Spoke to Enrolment Framework for Students with a Visa in Public Schools - Policies - Department of Education These and it is indeed free and covered in WA so that is some really good news!
  15. Either way the requirements for PR are trivial, earn like 60k and live in the state for the 3 years. The links sent do not indicate school fees, does anyone understand the Tax impacts if any? property purchases is not a problem for me in the first 3 years.
  16. Im confused @Marisawright the 491 has a clear path to PR after 3 years? School visas and tax agree are not clear and could be a bit of an issue. The weird thing is health is covered!
  17. I'm looking to move over on a 491 visa but have 3 school age children.... information appears to be unclear if 491 visa holders need to pay school fees and if so for what states. Can anyone on this visa or anyone who is sure provide guidance particularly for WA please!?
  18. I am looking at applying offshore for 190 visa. I do not have a positive skills test yet but im planning ahead and would like to understand from someone in the know when is the best time to apply. I know there is a limited number of 190 visas per year, what i don't understand is how they are spread out across the year. i.e are they all released around December and run out or get low in march for example or is there a steady stream of them released through out the year and it doesn't matter when you submit the EOI etc?
  19. Hi All I'm looking at completing a skills assessment for Occupational health and safety to come over on a 190 visa (~80 points). I have a degree in English and 6 years solid work experince plus a number of qualifications the biggest being Nebosh NGC. The below guidance is that in this situation an additional qualification amounting to AQF Diploma and 3 years experince will be enough where the degree is not highly relevant. Questions 1, has anyone had Nebosh NGC being recognized in a similar situation? (It is a year course which seems to align with AQF guidance on a diploma) Questions 2, has anyone had a positive outcome with a skills assessment where multiple industry qualifications have been taken in to consideration? Questions 3 does anyone have any general advise on how to proceed based on experince?
