Hello, I have applied for a skills assessment for teaching, but unfortunately as my degree is only a 3 year teaching degree they won’t accept it. Instead I have applied for a working holiday visa. I am just curious if there is anyone who has done the same and submitted documents. The only one I’ve not got so to speak is my birth certificate with my parents names on, as the certificate itself doesn’t show it. Does this matter? If it does, it asks to give a family book with proof of parents on it. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks in advance, Rebecca

Oh, I must’ve misunderstood then. I get what you’re saying. You need both qualifications and experience. Got it! Do you know whether mentoring students counts for any credits? Rebec

I suppose so. May just look into a different field. Thank you!

I really didn’t want to go down that route as I’ve been teaching so long. I suppose I’d have to if I wanted to get a skills assessment. Either that or go down a different route and get a different job. Thank you!

Hi, Did you manage to have any luck? I’m in exactly the same position. Applied for a skills assessment and it has come back as unsuitable. I’ve got a BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS degree and 9 years teaching experience, but yet it isn’t suitable. I’m desperate to get to Oz and my brother is now a citizen. Is there anything I can do? Thanks in advance, Rebec xx
