Parent visa application timelines (143 & 173)
KathyN replied to theballies's topic in Family / Partner Visas
My parents' 143 visas were granted this morning. Since I am onshore, I have to leave before my AFP Check expires in late December for my visa to be granted. Finding return flights to Singapore is a struggle!- 3,181 replies

I think as an Australian PR you can apply for and be granted a NZ visa quickly (a couple hours to a few days). I applied for a NZ visitor visa late last year and it took over 1 month to process :( . If the 143 visa is only activated when we leave the border, my concern is that that might not be enough for us to buy plane tickets to NZ. Would be so expensive and difficult to find plane tickets to my home country as well!

Only 3 months? Do you know if you are allowed to travel to NZ with an inactive visa 143 when the border opens? Would you need to apply for a NZ visitor visa or any other permit?

@Aaron88 We emailed PVC yesterday asking for progress since our last submission of documents in June 2020, and an officer replied saying applications are continuing and we will be notified when they reach the next stage.

Parent visa application timelines (143 & 173)

Thank you, I sure hope so. The requests being out of date order worry me quite a bit to be honest, since there doesn't seem to be a consistent trend to look out for.- 3,181 replies

Could anyone confirm that there seems to be a trend of UK applicants getting 2nd VAC requests in the last few days? I am not from the UK. Edit: sorry I was just informed that the forum probably has more UK applicants than other countries. Please ignore!- 3,181 replies

Thank you! Can I also ask if only a particular person can pay, for example only the sponsor or the main applicant? We are hoping that I would be able to pay from my account as the dependant applicant.- 3,181 replies

@Kathss56 can I please ask if this is different from the BPay function in online banking that is used to pay electricity, water bills etc in Australia? Can't I pay directly using BPay from my Australian bank account, with a BPay number on the 2nd VAC request if there is any?- 3,181 replies

How absolutely thrilled for you! @LBee My family often joke about how we must be some of the few people who would actually be happy when we are asked to pay such significant amount of money- 3,181 replies

Parent visa application timelines (143 & 173)
KathyN replied to theballies's topic in Family / Partner Visas
Hi everyone, I haven't been active in the forum but have been watching everyone's progress closely. I am a dependant applicant in my parents' 143 application (my sister is the sponsor). Our visa acknowledgement date is 4 March 2016. Our AOS was approved in March 2020 and we submitted further documents for my dependancy in early June 2020, and have been waiting for 2nd VAC request ever since. My parents are currently offshore while I am in Brisbane, studying my Master. My 23rd birthday is fast approaching, so it has been quite stressful waiting for THAT email. Hopefully we will hear something soon. Thank you everyone for keeping us posted.- 3,181 replies
