  1. Spot on. I received my invite on 20.01 and rescheduled my test to the following day. The reason why I'm sharing my experience in this thread is to let others know that such things might happen sometimes, and there is no need to panic if your application is not approved minutes after you completed your test. Good luck to everyone! I hope long queues will become a thing of the past in 2020.
  2. I passed 100%. I thought I might just share my situation and how things went for me. I got my interview and test ~30 working days after I submitted my application, I hope it won’t take too long to get my application approved! Good luck to everyone waiting!
  3. Hey mate, just wondering if you got your approval yet? I had my interview and test earlier this morning, and the officer who was interviewing me said that because I only applied in December and I’m very fresh in the system, it might take another few months until all background checks are complete. Cheers
  4. Congratulations on passing the test! Hope citizenship ceremony won't be a long wait for you!
  5. I'm wondering if your British Passport + Australian Citizenship Certificate would be sufficient to evidence your right to enter the country upon your return?
  6. Hi LeiMing, Go to your ImmiAccount --> "View Details" of your Citizenship Application --> from your Citizenship Application main screen go to "Messages" (second option from the top of the Menu bar on the left hand side of the screen) If your application was submitted correctly, there should be an "Acknowledgement of Application Received" email in your messages which is an auto generated confirmation email containing all the details of your application (e.g., your Client ID and Application ID). I hope this helps. Best of luck with your application!
  7. You post is a bit unclear. To clear it up a bit, am I getting it right that: You are working for a company in, let's say, State A at the moment and you have 5 month until the end of the contract with that company. You also applied for citizenship in State A. You received an offer from a university in State B with Feb 2020 start If the above statements are correct, then you have 2 different questions that have absolutely no relation to each other: Q1. How will your move from State A to State B affect your citizenship application? The answer is - it will not affect it significantly (a slight delay due to case transfer is possible) and it will definitely not affect it adversely. All you have to do is to update your address details in your Immiaccount and attach evidence of your new address (utility bill, drivers licence from State B, etc.) Q2. How will your move to State B affect your work/employment contract in State A? The answer is - this is a private matter between you and your employer, and the decision is yours to make.
  8. Only if ALL of the below conditionds apply to your situation: you held a permanent Australian visa, and you travelled to Malaysia after you got your PR visa and stayed there more than 90 days, and you were over 18 years old at that time, and the total time spent outside Australia added up to 12 months or more (while you held a PR visa) Also, this is not only applicable to your country of origin (Malaysia) - you need an overseas PC from ANY country in which you stayed for more that 90 days after you got your PR if the total time spent outside Australia added up to 12 months or more (while you held a PR visa) Hope this makes it a bit more clear. Good luck with you application and further processing!
  9. You can create an account and submit the required documents later, there is nothing riding on you to attach ALL the documents at the time of application. Just make sure you attach them asap once you get hold of them. The Department will request a National Police check from the National Police Checking Service (NPCS) themselves. You only need to attach an overseas Police Clearance certificate if conditions from the list below are applicable to your situation. Penal clearance certificates from overseas countries are required if: you lived or travelled outside Australia since the age of 18 years or over, and you held a permanent Australian visa at that time, and the total time spent outside Australia added up to 12 months or more, and the time spent in any one country was more than 90 days, or requested by the Department. I hope this helps. Cheers!
  10. Hey mate, Congrats on your speedy processing! To reschedule the appointment, follow this link: https://appointments.homeaffairs.gov.au/login Client ID is an 11-digit number listed in all communications from the Department. Good luck, and have a great Christmas!
  11. You may try to contact your council/MLA directly with a compelling, persuasive and very well-argumented reason (supported by documentary evidence) as to why you're in dire need of your citizenship ceremony being expedited (e.g., you have received an offer from a university with Feb 20 start, and you need your citizenship approved asap in order to get access to HECS loan scheme; you are stateless and your relative overseas is very unwell and you need to apply for a passport, etc.). Hope it works out for you!
  12. Hey naviozz, No one here will be able to give you a definitive answer, as no one is a qualified lawyer/migration agent whose services you engaged. However, on a general note: Tribunals are part of the Administrative branch (and not the judiciary) of government created for the purpose of control of government action (e.g., was a decision made by DIBP (as part of the executive branch) lawful or it can be appealed on certain grounds) Tribunal decisions are not convictions of an individual who appealed to the tribunal, they are decisions on whether actions of an executive office/branch/department were legal and compliant with legislation If they were, that means that an individual who appealed to the tribunal lost their case and has to follow the initial decision (e.g., leave the country or go back to detention until further decision is made) If they were not, an executive office/branch/department is compelled to make a new decision following the correct procedure/legislation, etc It is only courts ("in their capacity of courts" - which means courts as opposed to let's say judges presiding over royal commissions) that have the power to make convictions in relation to an individual And finally, all decisions of the executive have to be expressed in "clear and unambiguous terms" (case authority for this is Coco v The Queen), i.e. if after thoroughly reading through the documents handed to an individual by the Tribunal it is still unclear to that individual whether a decision made in relation to them was a conviction or not, they have the right to request further clarifications. Again, this is not relating to your particular situation, just a note on how administrative law works in Australia. All the best!
  13. Providing birth certificate from your home country translated by a NAATI translator is compulsory.
  14. Government agencies only close down for3 days of official public holidays: Christmas Day - Wed, Dec 25th Boxing Day - Thur, Dec 26th New Year's Day - Wed, Jan 1st They don't close down for 2 weeks like most private companies do.
  15. Hope something comes up! Which council area do you live in?
  16. Hi Feb2017Cook, Does appointment notification come in the form of a physical letter I should be looking out for in my mail, or is it an email? Are there any notifications in the immiaccount? Cheers.
  17. Hi Rising, No need to worry about changes in the citizenship grant process - it can only be altered by amending Australian Migration Act 1958, and currently there are no Bills pending in Federal parliament attempting to do this. All the best with your application!
  18. Good luuuuuuuuck Rosie! Hope we all get processed really quickly here in WA, and maybe even have our citizenship ceremonies on Australia Day 2020! How cool would that be hey?!
  19. Hey Feb2017Cook and benj1980, I'm in Western Australia as well. Floreat, Town of Cambridge Council to be exact. Good luck with your applications, and I will keep you updated once news comes in!
