    AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP TIMELINES 2018-2019

It's been 4 months since my interview and test, and my citizenship application is still pending. I understand that there may have been delays caused by Covid-19 outbreak but I feel that my citizenship approval has been adversely impacted by this delay. Considering that I am a single applicant with a very transparent life history, NO spouse/children or travel history during my 4-year residence in Australia, and a citizenship test passed with 100% score, I cannot see why others are being approved hours after their test took place, and my case approval is taking so long. Sad reacts only please.

Actually, I am the one directly affected! I am doing a postgrad law degree at UWA, and I was paying my tuition fees in advance in previous semesters (grateful for paying domestic rates!). Cut-off date for Semester 1 is March 31, and in current climate with all the uncertainty, understandably, I am very reluctant to spend X thousand $ on tuition fees, so I decided to take an academic leave until I get my citizenship and get access to HECS. I was so close, though! I am one of the applicants who lodged an application in Dec, got an invite in early Jan. I rescheduled my interview from early April to late Jan, so none of my checks had come through by the time of my interview. At least, I had an interview and sat my test! All the best to everyone guys, all we can do in this brave new world that unfolding before us is look after ourselves and our loved ones, and look out for each other, and be grateful for what we have every day!

Hey guys, hope everyone is doing well! Just wondering if anyone who had their test in Jan 2020 got their approval yet? Cheers

Logically speaking, if they accepted your birth certificate when you applied for your initial visa and/or PR visa, then I don't see why it shouldn't be acceptable for citizenship application?!

I am just being optimistic here and assuming that it's possible to get from point A (citizenship application) to point B (passport application) in less than 6 months' time. Actually, it says on the back of the photos: "Valid Until DD.MM.YYYY"

I had them taken at Australia Post, it’s a set of 6 for something about $25. You’ll need official photos for your passport application anyways.

I asked my bank manager, and she was more than happy to help me out

Yes, I made a one-page scan of: - passport page with the entry stamp and - boarding pass to my flight to Sydney and attached it as evidence of date of entry Apparently, the stamp alone is more than enough.

Hey markix, Below is the screenshot from my ImmiAccount, I hope it gives you a rough idea of what kind of documents you might need to attach to your application. Please disregard the numbers you see, as the system counts every page as a separate document. Here is the list of documents I submitted as a single 189 PR-visa holder with no children: Birth Certificate (if not in English, it MUST be translated by a NAATI-accredited translator); Identity Declaration (https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/form-listing/forms/1195.pdf); Front and back of my endorsed photograph separately scanned; Passport(s) from country(ies) I am a citizen of; Residence permit(s)/card(s) from country(ies) I am a permanent resident of (e.g., UK ILR card); Drivers Licence; Utility Bill / Bank Statement with your current address. Hope this helps. Good luck with your application!
