I received an invitation for an interview and citizenship test on the 02 Mar 2020. Then on the 24 Mar 2020 I received an email saying: "All citizenship test appointments have been suspended for the time being. You will be advised in due course as soon as interviews and testing resumes" Since then(10 months ago) I haven't heard anything at all. Anyone in a similar situation?

Yes, I am also interested in knowing an answer for this. I am currently living overseas however I applied from Australia so sadly i can't request the test at an embassy overseas as that is only valid for offshore applications. But once I do my test I think I have to wait in Australia for approval. I think I may also have to be in Australia for them to send me a citizenship invitation...?

Hi there James, thanks so much for your reply. Actually, I did update my online application on the 3rd of December with my new address but I never heard anything about it. I am guessing I might need to call them as I can't find anywhere online or an email where I could request this change of interview and test location. Is there a number or email that you know of that I could use to reach them? Thanks

Hey there everyone, I am currently on a permanent partner visa as my wife is Australian. I have now reached 5 years of residency including 1 year of PR. And so, I am planning to apply for citizenship and then soon after leave Australia to live overseas however I do "intend to maintain a lasting link with Australia while overseas". I am aware that there is a possibility of taking the citizenship test outside of Australia* but my question is does this only apply to people who applied from overseas? In other words, if I apply for citizenship in Australia will I later be able to qualify for an interview and test outside of Australia? This is all I have found regarding this: * "If you live outside Australia and apply from outside Australia, we will contact you. We will arrange for you to take the citizenship test at an Australian Government embassy, high commission, consulate, multilateral mission or representative office."
