    Hey Harriet,

I thought I recognised your photo. You won't know me by this username but we met up way back in 2009/2010 (with all the other crew) and done the Meetup before our Gap Year in Oz in 2010.

I thought I was the only one nearly 9 Years later still going through Australian Visa Process, I am in Perth.   It sucks you were so close to your PR before the personal issues you had. I hope you are feeling better now.

    Anyway, All the best ;-)

I absolutely remember you, we met up in Leeds before everyone came out to Oz!!! It was me Wayne and Dave and then your group that came over a few weeks later!!

How odd to both be on here...! I am really gutted about my current circumstance but you just got to get on with it I suppose. I will find a way back! At least your in Oz still though ?

Send me a DM let me know what your up to! X

My GF arranged for the docs to be notorised and can't remember off the top of my head exactly which documents (I don't want to give you duff info - best to check the instructions).  We paid for a notary public to notorise them.  It was a couple of hundred quid I think.  Rip off.  Either AHPRA or the job agency had told us to get the AHPRA docs notoriased rather than certified by a solicitor.  However for most of out visa application docs we had them certified by a friend who's a solicitor.

You've taken a different approach to us.  We posted the application in advance but we have to fly out to confirm identity.  I'd suggest you read up on everything any any differences between applying in Australia compared to the from abroad. I'd definitely see if you can confirm you've met the ID check requirements when you're there in person.

    Thank you for the reply!

I have been registered with AHPRA before so you think the process would be a little easier for me but it seems not to be the case! I stupidly let my registration lapse last year, hence why I now have to go through all this. But...in the long run it will be worth it!!

    Hi

I wanted everything ready before i travelled, was only there for 10 days did want any problems. When i rang APHRA they said you could have them certified at their office however it depends on if there is someone in at the time who is able to do so. I used a Notary in Liverpool. If u are near Liverpool can give u his details.

Thank you for the reply ?

I would like to go with it all ready as well to be truthful, however I am so worried I will have filled something in wrong or forgotten to do something!

Am I right in thinking we only need to have our Passport notorised to prove ID and your qualification certificate?

I am in the Midlands but I do know of a Notary, I was just wondering if I was being ripped off price wise. ?

There just seems so many ways to get it all wrong - I am hoping to submit and EOI for State Sponsorship...as an EN (studied in Aus) my options are quite limited.

Ok so just to update this thread:

We decided to have a go at getting a 457 visa in before the TSS, purely on the cost saving though we were assuming  processing time would be longer in tge end due to the 457 back log.

After a mad rush we got everything together our side for the end of feb, only for the employer to be unable to submit the signed nomination form because the Labour Market Testing, required for nurses even on the 457, had not conculded. Given they noted the need for LMT in late Jan it couldve been completed in time but we'll wait and see how long it takes.  Of course there is the risk the job may go.

Ahpra reg is principle was received about a week ago with the expected 3 months to present in person. We asked for an extention, they said no.  If the job still goes ahead we,ll ask again in a couple if months.  We are expecting to send my GF out to Oz for a week in may to complete the Aphra registration. We figure even if the job falls through, haviing Ahpra reg for a year will make finding another nursing job easier.

So now we wait for LMT to conclude and apply for the TSS visa if there is still a job at the end of it. theyre gonna have to process at least some tss visas while going through the 457 backlog because theyll need to check the process works. Thats my thinking anyway.

May I ask who you got to notorise the identity documents..and what did you send? Just the passport?

I am due to fly out 27th April to submit my form in person but I was thinking maybe I should post it first in case I have filled it out wrong (likely hahha!).

    TIA

    Hi Harriet

Thats what I did, I went on holiday with a holiday visa and presented to APHRA while I was there. U can use your boarding pass. However don’t forget they also want proof of address in Australia for example a bill or bank statement. This requirement is not really suitable for international applicants however when I called to verify this I was told I still had to have this. Advice I got from here was to open a bank account which u can do online. I opened with a bank called Nab. When you go to Australia u can complete your bank registration by going to the bank. The bank accept a temporary address so if you have a friend or relative who does not mind you using their address. I then got a letter printed to use as my proof of Australian address. APHRA is very fussy make sure that letter is also stamped even thou it’s on a letter head, I had to go back to have this done. Good luck.

Thank goodness...I was having a little worry that I would travel all that way and they would say I didn't have a valid visa!!

May I also ask how you went about getting the copies of your documents certified?

I have had to do this before over here in the UK for my Aus superannuation and the Notary charged me 30 pounds (stupidly I dont have a pound symbol on my latop as I bought it in Aus! Only a dollar sign lol!)  per document. I know when I worked at RBWH we had Justice of the Peace in the main lobby and they certified documents for free. Im thinking I could wait till I get to Aus to certify copies however I would like to have the application all ready to go...who did you use over here?

Long winded way to ask a short question sorry lol!

    x

  6. Thank you for your comments, however I believe I may have been too hasty in my thoughts as last night his fb status change to ‘in a relationship’ with another person so that was a kick but in the guts ?

Looks like his thinking and mine were not on the same wave length. But thank you for all the advice...

If you had been properly advised, you might have withdrawn your application, which would not have been good, but would have been better than having a visa cancellation on your record.

In the circumstaances you described, you should be able sucessfully to reapply, others have.

Yes I did withdraw the application as I informed immi the relationship had broken down...so hopefully this was the correct way and won’t hinder any other visas I may apply for.

I am really not sure what your options are tbh. If you have the holiday and talk things over with your husband and decide you want to give it another go, then you are probably best to discuss your case with a reputable migration agent to see how best to proceed. It could be with a cancelled visa and applying for a new one its not too much of an issue but you've been separated so its possible this could present problems. Having an agent to handle your case could potentially save a lot of heartache and stress.

Any of those who post regularly on here would be a good starting point.

    @Raul Senise @wrussell @Alan Collett @Richard Gregan

FWIW, if you both do decide to give your marriage another go I'd ensure you discuss counselling and make sure its something you are both open to should you return and things get tough again. And perhaps look at the area you were living and not return there but go somewhere that works for you BOTH. And also, if you've had any issues in the UK or sought help for any depression or mental health issues, hopefully you've been able to get back on a more even keel and are looking at things in an objective way. If not, suggest seeing a good GP to see if there is anything that can help. I doubt the problems or feelings you have or have had are going to go away without some input.

Thank you for the advice. I was seeing a gp in Aus and over here and I am on the medication required to keep me in a happy(ish) place ?

  7. Oh my goodness...I wish someone had given me this advice 18months ago ? please don’t rush into anything. Take you one and think it through in Australia.

I met my partner in 2009 in Aus, married in 2014 and applied for defacto visa I was granted the temporary residency and was 6 months off my PR. We moved to rural NSW and this is where is all went wrong. I became very depressed, lonely, homesick and started having panic attack. I packed my bags and left Aus.

Worst decision ever. I never gave me  and my husband a chance and made a completely rash decision, that was completely wrong! My visa was cancelled and now I am stuck in England feel worse than I did there!

We are still in contact and neither of us want to get a divorce as I have this feeling we are meant to be together, and I get the feeling he does too. I am actually going to Aus for a 2 week holiday on 27th April and we are obviously going to meet up, and it may just rekindles things ??

Long story short - we do we stand..? If we do want to make a go of it again I know we will have to apply for a spousal visa again but we obviously wiudknt have the evidence of the continuing relationship for 2 yrs, but then again we are still married.

Any advice would be much appreciate, as I am at a loss what to do. I am looking as state sponsorship as I am an Enrolled Nurse (trained in Aus) but the timeframe on that just seems too long. ?

    Thank you x

p.s I hope you have managed to get yourself in a better frame if mind. Glad to hear you are trying counselling. I truly hope everything works out for you, whichever way that may go x

Thank you so much for the reply!

Fortunately I already have a bank account in Aus. I lived there for 6 years on x 2 WHV’s, Student Visa and then Partner visa but when my marriage ended in Sept 2016 I just needed to be with my family ( and stupidly left Aus, cancelled my visa and burnt all bridges ??‍♀️- seems the right thing at the time!) I was 6 months off PR.

Hence why now, I am back in a good frame off mind mentally, I know I want and need to get back to Aus. I am an Enrolled Nurse (trained in Aus) and cant use that qualification in the UK so I am applying for State Sponsorship, and while I’m waiting for an invitation I have decided to go to NZ to work as an EN over there.

Sorry for the long winded reply I am just excited, but anxious at the prospect I might be able to live back in the Country that I love!

I was up till 2am trawling through websites/forums finding out what I need and how to get the ball rolling!!

  9. Hello All,

Just wondering if AHPRA will approved your registration when visiting on a tourist visit? They only state it has to be a valid visa, or boarding card...is this correct??

Only I fly over for a holiday on 27th April and I was hoping to be able to 'present myself in person' to gain full registration.

    Thank you in advance!
