You can appeal to AAT administrative appeal tribunal 70 days after you received the letter of refusal. I assume you are the sponsor who applied for the visit visa, you are entitled to apply for merits review.

So we can apply for a AAT review for only sponsored visa applications? I am not the sponsor here. It was an offshore visa application.

I thought you were already living in Sydney??   Why are you asking about a visitor visa?

That is why I used 'We' throughout the question instead of 'I' because it is one of my family members, not me but due to his lack of English communication I am asking on his behalf.

  3. has anyone gone through such situation?
our visitor visa was recently refused due to case officer's mistake. He mistakenly looked at the tax deducted (which was some thousands currency) instead of the account closing balance (which was around 1 million currency) in the bank statement, and refused the visa saying that tourist funds are insufficient.

    what can we do?

Wouldn’t say it is normal for such variable amounts.  Why would you be using double the amount of energy every other month?  This suggests that you are leaving something running sometimes.

I will keep an eye an open for this month's usage.

Where do you live?  Electricity prices vary considerably between Australian states.   Also, you may be able to switch to a different provider who gives you a better deal.

    Bankstown, NSW

  6. I live in a 2 bed unit with no gas connection. My last 4 monthly electricity bills are $140, $229, $100 and $193. Our stove top is electric (ceramic) and there is no air conditioner. A couple of persons have told me that my electricity bill is a bit higher, for a 3 person household, because of the electric stove. If I replace it with a gas stove, the bill would go down to approximately $80-$130 range monthly, on average. I still have to authenticate this myself.

We've recently moved into our rental and was wondering if anyone can shed some light on how often and roughly how much the utilities the bills are. We are in a 3 bed unit in Frankston area

There is no water bill in my unit. As someone already answered, it is the responsibility of the house/unit owner.

Electricity bills are quarterly while Gas bills are every 2 months. That's standard no matter the company as while you can choose your own provider meter reading has a set schedule (although they'll all try to offer you the option of paying monthly which, just like in the UK, is a scam to get you to pay in advance since their estimate usage is always more than you're actually using and you'll end up with them owing you 6 months of Electricity or Gas).

Some electricity companies, such as AGL, have started giving an option to their subscribers to enter the meter reading themselves (app/website) every month to get an accurate bill. I have been doing it for last 3 or 4 months.

  9. UPDATE:

Someone advised me that it should be "Consent for travel of a child under the age of 18, Evidence of" but it was not present in my application so I used OTHER DOCUMENTS section.

I think probably the problem isn't getting the test as such but sending them on to someone whose qualified to give you or interpret the results.

I can interpret them myself but am not sure where should I go for a certain blood test. Back in my home country, I could have gone to any medical laboratory and ask them to do any blood test and they can happily do it without any doctor's prescription. I am not sure if the process is same here or not.

My husband & I had a check up each, an X-ray & a scale & polish. The bill for us both was $540 & that was after discount had been applied from the dental insurers we use. We're on Sydney's north shore.

    Thank you for sharing this.

Not cheap in my experience. Although we are in rural Victoria and our choices are limited to the local government funded dentist who are not that good imo opinion and still charged loads unless you have a health care card or the private dentist who charge loads but are very good. Good luck

What are this 'load' as per you. Am I safe here to assume that according to you anything above $200 can be put in 'loads' category ?

  13. Can someone shed light on what is average dental checkup cost in Australia, especially in NSW and more specifically in Sydney. Assume that the person who wants to get his teeth checked, does not have medical insurance apart from Medicare.
