  1. hello. if you work in private practice (allied health) does the employer still pay Super, or does it depend on the basis on which you are employed? frustrating that job adverts for private sector often don't include pay!
  2. hello. I have just filled out my AHPRA form and think I have spotted how I thought that. They ask for proof of address OR job offer. I must have reasoned that as I wouldn't have proof of address I would have to have a job offer. But apparently any address will do so I can now fulfil that part. hope that makes sense.
  3. Did you provide certified colour photocopies or certified printed scans?
  4. great! Think I've worked out to send mine to arrive 2nd week Jan - that way if is super quick will still fit with validation trip early may. If takes 3 months should still be ok. If it takes longer than 3 months I'm scuppered and will have to fly back again. Just sent off fit2work today and requested CoGs and will just have to redo those after 3 months.
  5. have you received your registration yet?
  6. I can't answer your question sorry, how long has your application taken so far?
  7. thanks for your reply. Can AHPRA receive the fit2work ahead of your application form? Doesn't it go straight to them? If I timed it so that the fit2work arrived with ahpra about a week before the post should get my application to them. More than happy to pay again if it expires if this is possible - just that it explicitly stated that have to present in person within 3 months of CoGS and fit2work. That runs the risk of my ahpra reg not being processed by then, if that makes sense. If I reapplied for another fit2work and CoGS would I have to fly back again to present in person?
  8. to answer my own question - you have to present in person within 3 months of all of certificate of good standing, fit2work and AHPRA registration. But you need to send off for fit2work and certificate of good standing before you submit ahpra. If COGS and fit2work have expired you may have to sign a stat dec in front of an authorised person. How have others balanced this? Do ahpra start processing the application before the receive the fit2work and COGS? That would enable me to send off all at the same time (fit2work marginally first )and still allow a potential 3/12 ahpra processing time before validation trip 7th may 2018? If COGS and fit2work have expired by validation trip I need to find a solictor whilst in australia to sign stat dec? As you can probably tell, my head is getting in a spin with the logistics of this!
  9. Just trying to juggle dates for submitting AHPRA registration - hoping to coincide present in person with validation trip arriving 7th May 2018 for 10 days. The ICHC is valid for 3 months - does this just mean that you have to submit registration application within 3 months of AHPRA receiving the fit2work check? The present in person within 3 months of ahpra reg doesn't have to also be within 3 months of the fit2work? i.e. would this timeline be valid: - send off to ft2work 27th oct 2017 (approx 15 working days to process) - send off AHPRA application 22nd January 2018 - present in person 7th May 2018 many thanks for any help.
  10. Thanks Richard. So the bank won't require proof of me living at an address in order to open an account? Just seems a rather pointless exercise on AHPRAs behalf, asking for proof of address when it actually isn't that.
  11. Is it definitely ok to use an address which you are not actually living at? Don't the banks require proof of address to open an account? We will be validating our visas in May 2018 and hope to be able to present in person at the aphra office during this trip. I have friends in Brisbane who may let me use their address if I did as you guys have and pre-opened a bank account? I guess I could then ask them to forward documents to me in the UK as soon as the account is opened. Does it matter if an account is sitting inactive for some time? I would prefer not to use the airbnb we will be using for a short trip of 10 days as might look dodgy to the home owner!
  12. hello I can't for the life of me find any reference to it now...i'm sure I read this somewhere fairly recently. looks like this isn't the case, apologies for misleading you
  13. thanks Jess. ahpra are now requiring a job offer to start the registration process. once I start looking (subject to visa going through) I'll apply anyway a d explain that can't start registration without a job offer. hope that will suffice but was wondering how it has played out in reality so far!
  14. hello just wondering if anyone has found applying for Australian jobs whilst still I the UK an issue since Ahpra have required proof of job offer? Most job adverts state must have ahpra registration . I'm hoping employers would accept that this isn't possible without a job offer but does anyone have first hand experience? many thanks.
  15. I remember your posts from years back! I am a bit too old to look at medical school now but working so closely with vascular surgeons I would choose that career if had my time again! giveagirlshoes - while yes you will see corns etc the world of Podiatry is far more exciting, especially in the diabetic foot world. you will remove corns in a high risk foot but you will also be removing mummified toes ( it is a very strange job sometimes ? ).
  16. well done! I am a podiatrist with 189 visa going through at the moment. I also retrained (fair few years ago) partly with skills list in mind. we are undecided as to whether to move now as we have things so good here. I'm inclined to go for 4 years for the experience (life and work). If we don't go I am so glad I retrained. I absolutely love my job, am earning good money and have good prospects for the future. Podiatry has done me proud. it is what you make it though - keep up to date, look for opportunities and get your name known as someone who wants to progress. I would not recommend retraining in this field for a visa if you have no prior interest though as it is tough work and often very undervalued and underpaid for what we actually do.
