  1. Yes! Had test approval in early June. Still waiting on ceremony date
  2. Congratulations and thanks for the info & update!
  3. Application was on hold for 6 months whilst they went through the democratic process of voting the immigration bill in parliament. They made an immigration law reality on 20th April 2017 before making it legal in parliament so thats the joke in the process.
  4. Been 6 weeks since my approval. I called council again this morning. They cant tell me anything about being on a list for the next ceremony. So despite positive thinking and belief it looks like i will end up waiting the longest possible time from application to formal citizenship. Summer trip back to the UK now looks unlikely so another year before I get to take my aussie family for a visit to meet my side of the family. Going at xmas time the fares are triple the price and weather is awful. What a joke this whole process has been.
  5. Were they not bothered that you called? My councils website says not to contact them directly as the date is not arranged by them but rather from the Department of Immigration. They just get given a list of the next intake. I called my local council and they were quite rude to me when I inquired if I was on the list for next ceremony. "Once you have been approved and received your letter of approval from the DIBP, you will be put on a 6 month waiting list for a ceremony. Council will receive your details one month prior to your allocated ceremony date and will then contact you at this time. Please do not contact Council prior to receiving your invitation to a ceremony as we are unable to tell you where you sit on the waiting list."
  6. My Citizenship application approved 21st June 18. Applied June 2017. As I am out of state at the moment and have no access to my mail box so I have called the local council (even though they advise not to) to see if I am on the list for upcoming ceremonies in July. Unfortunately not and the 6 months from approval to ceremony date duration they advised seems realistic. They tentatively suggested I should be good for September or October and will receive an email, text message and letter so not to worry about being away from home with work. Hope this info helps people in similar circumstances. Good luck to all.
  7. Thats a ridiculous wait from test to approval and doesn't seem right. Most people have approval within 2 - 3 months after the test and some cases within the week. Do you have any special circumstances that may be holding up the approval? What country do you originate from? Have you been chasing them up, you would be well within your rights to do so.
  8. From date 1 I would imagine. I didn't use an agent, the forms to fill in, although detailed, were easy enough to complete. A benefit of using an agent is they may be able to communicate more efficiently with the DIBP whilst your application is in process and will also be a good second check to make sure you provided ALL the necessary information in your application. You have to weigh up whether the cost is worth it or not. You should be able to get a copy of your PR application documents from your agent which will help you fill in the citizenship documents more easily.
  9. Thank you @Zet01 They told you what date? The date of upcoming ceremonies or the date of your ceremony invite?
  10. I received a letter yesterday with approval of my citizenship and now to wait for a ceremony date and invite from my local council which states it could take up to 6 months. Has anyone tried calling the council direct to try to expedite the process? Date applied: 06/06/2017 City/Council area: Warringah Online / Paper: Paper Date received the acknowledgement email: N/A Date of the Citizenship Test: 09/05/2018 Approval Date: 21/06/2018 Date of ceremony: TBC
  11. I had my citizenship test early May 2018. I called Immi today to enquire about approval date and was advised it could take up to 6 months. ? Then there iss the wait for the council to get in touch about a ceremony date. Which could also take 6 months. Lodged in June 2017 so worst case scenario is 2 years to ceremony. Best case is 13 months and counting. What a joke!
  12. Still, 2 month turnaround is awesome when most people have been waiting 8-12 months and the department are advising 14-16 months to be processed. If you are just waiting on your ceremony now you should be sweet within 6 months at the latest
  13. Ferbuary 2018?1 Are you saying you applied in February 2018 and received a test email 2 months later?
  14. Thank you. Good luck. You will pass the test no problems. ?
  15. Thanks @AnneOzI hope so too. I wonder why they gave me an appointment out in Parramatta for the test when you got one in the CBD? CBD is much closer to my house. Warringah council area. Anyhoo not complaining its done and i am near the end of a very long, expensive and stressful journey but worth it all in the end.
  16. Passed my citizenship test on Wednesday. Have been told the likely wait for a ceremony date will be 3-6 months. Using positive thinking Im putting the vibes out for a ceremony end of June at the latest. Good luck to all still waiting. Hang in there. It comes eventually.
  17. I received good news today. Letter received today and my test / interview is tomorrow! Not much notice but after a 12 month wait im not complaining. Applied May 2017. Paper based application. NSW applicant. British background. Hoping for a quick turnaround on the ceremony date so I can apply for my passport and be eligible for the socceroos at this years world cup. Im pretty handy as a centre forward.
  18. Great! thank you for the response. What happens if i receive a citizenship test appointment in that 3 week turnaround time? I will have no passport to take to the meeting/test. Its a small chance of happening but worth planning for.
  19. Hi Guys hoping someone can advise. I have applied for citizenship early June 2017. Still heard nothing back. I now need to renew my British passport as it expires soon but to do so i have to send my original one away to the British passport office. If during this time of renewing my British passport I finally get an appointment for the citizenship test I obviously will be unable to attend with my original documents referenced in my application forms. Or if I get the renewed passport back in time for the citizenship test I will have a passport number different from my that stated on my application form. Any advice what to do? Im not putting my life on hold anymore and will be going back to the UK for 4 weeks on holiday in August to see my aging parents and let everyone meet my Australian daughter and Australian fiance for the first time. Thanks.
  20. Not frustrated, was trying to help you and you responded saying it was a pretty simple question. Maybe if you re-read your original question you will realise it didn't make any sense. In any case I am a NSW applicant, apllied in June 2017 and I am still waiting to hear anything.
  21. Would have been a simple question if your grammar was correct.
  22. And the only way to notify immigration is to call them and be on hold for 90 minutes
