No chance with 80 points for 189 mate. 90 points for a 190 gives you a good chance though.
This page is useful for invitation estimates: https://www.iscah.com/will-get-189-invite-updated-predictions/

Update on our application. 190 visa sponsorship form Victoria got rejected.
So disheartening. Vic is the only state open for Secondary school teachers.
Why did it get rejected?

Any updates from anyone here on this thread. Reading now there's a few 75 pointers and when I submit my EOI it'll rise to 80 points in 2021 but I'll lose points with age in 2022. Getting permanent residency seems nearing an impossibility. And I thought teaching was a ticket to the world!
I was up for a new 491, which I may be talked into but the size of deposit you need to buy property is enormous and I've just found out the beyond ridiculous stamp duty fees charged by every state for foreign investors.
Chances with 80 points for a 189 are very, very slim.
491 would be your best bet if you qualify.

Ok - that is quick; mine was longer and most others I've heard of are too, but I guess there is no reason why it needs to be longer
Stand corrected
That said, we ended waiting about the same time for our decision, my EOI to invite was 2 days and invite to approve was 3 weeks
No worries! It seems like most things are completely random when it comes to applying for visas

Sorry you are mis-reading either my post or the other persons post.
When you submit your EOI saying you would like to be considered for a 190 visa the response to that may well only take 3 days (equally you may never get a response) - that response invites you to apply for state nomination.
The state nomination piece is pretty rigid (as it is a first on first out queue) so it will rarely be under 4 weeks (and almost certainly not 3 days)
Once you get a positive nomination back you can then apply to immigration for the VISA
That is not correct. The state nomination piece took 3 days.
To make this clear:
- Waited 1 month after EOI submission to receive NSW invite.
- Waited 3 days for NSW to approve the nomination
- Currently waiting on visa decision
-
190 NSW, 241111, 80 points.
3 days was the time taken for state nomination approval. Not the visa processing time.
-
Mine took 3 days a few months ago.

Each State and Territory has its own requirements. Victoria for instance is well known for wanting to see firm commitment to living there.
Correct. However, the original post in this thread specifically mentions NSW.
-
That's not correct. It may be the case for other states, but not for NSW.
2 months ago, I received NSW sponsorship for a 190 while living in QLD.

We would like to be able to buy a house/townhouse - not looking to raise kids in an apartment.
We'd be looking to stay on the North Shore.

Hi all
We are considering whether to make the move from Brisbane to Sydney. We have no kids, but are looking to start a family soon.
Can anyone who has lived in both cities comment on the difference in cost of living and quality of life between the 2 cities?
Anyone who has lived in Sydney - are you able to comment on how expensive it is to live in Sydney?
Thanks!

You have to move here within 3 months after the grant
Thanks @garrychandi - how do you know this?

Hi all
I'm currently on a 457 in QLD. If I obtain a 190 for NSW, how soon after grant date do I have to move to NSW?
Thanks

Thanks @Ausvisitor - that is very helpful.

Hi all
I received an invitation to apply for NSW nomination for a subclass 190 visa today. Assuming there are no issues with providing documentation/evidence, am I guaranteed of getting an invite from the Department of Home Affairs for a 190 visa if NSW nominates me?
Also, will I receive an invite from the Department of Home Affairs on the same day that the NSW nomination comes through, or will this be some time after?
Thanks

http://www.iscah.com/iscah-unofficial-skill-select-results-11th-april-2019/
According to the above link (estimated results for the April 2019 skillselect invitation round), less than 300 invites were issued in this round.
Non pro-rata occupation needed 85 points for an invite. This is getting ridiculous.
Does anyone know why this is?
Is this likely to continue?

QLD now closes all skill visas (189,190,489) until next Financial year (this July).
I wonder that, will they keep closing it until this new visa launching in November this year? Cause my visa will be expired in September.....
This doesn't even make sense.

Best tip I can give is to focus on fluency. Don't worry about content too much.

For anyone interested, I just transferred my 457 to a new sponsor and it took 20 days.

The skilled employment assessment is usually desirable to provide comfort as to the points being claimed on the Expression of Interest.
Overclaiming points on the EoI can cause a visa invitation to be issued in error, leading to a refusal of the application with the loss of Visa Application Charges paid to the Department => not good!
It is an advisory letter, in that the Department is not obliged to accept the assessment, but the process usually fleshes out the key documentation relating to past employments.
Best regards.
Thank you so much for the clarification Alan
