Does anybody know how much it is to appeal a visa resual and can you stay in the country while Immigration make their decision?

Hi guys Just an update from my call with IMMI, I lodged my visa on the 12th July 2016 customer service manager transition stream, I spoken with immigration this morning they said my visa is going to be another 3-6month wait ? The wait is so frustrating.
