  1. @Dragonflygecko - I'm a secondary school teacher. It was my 30th a couple of weeks ago and was hoping for the perfect birthday present too - but never happened. Lets hope I get it before i'm 31! haha. Fingers crossed for you mate! What's your profession? You seem to have been waiting ages! I am using a MIRA agent too, they are based near me in SE London/Kent.

@Simons - Whats your profession and when did you lodge your 189 visa?

  2. As long as all the paperwork is in order, your be absolutely fine. I am hoping to head to Perth suburbs, possibly Mandurah. I'm going on my own, so assumed my visa grant would be quick. It appears not! I'm not sure about the children check being done in person, but I know you have to get state registration first which is more paperwork!

  3. Yeah, I am certainly envious of those who get grants so quickly. It does seem very random! I am finding it all very stressful too. Life is literally on hold. That's good needs that your boss has been so accommodating. I'm just gunna be blacklisted! Haha. You never know, we both might be sitting here with grants tomorrow! Haha. Yep, plenty of us stressing and worrying together!

  4. IELTS L8.5 Overall - 29/10/2016 | AITSL assessment submitted - 10/01/2017 | Positive AITSL assessment completed - 23/02/2017 | EOI submitted - 14/03/2017 (65 points) | Invite received - 14/03/2017 | 189 Visa applied - 20/03/2017 | Case Officer assigned - 28/03/2017 | PCCs for Australia and UK received - 08/04/2017 | Medical Complete - 11/04/2017 | Awaiting decision!

  5. The wait is crippling - I have a week until the cut off date to hand my notice expires (i'm a teacher), otherwise i'm there until Christmas! Literally living day-to-day...waiting. Have alook at my signature for my situation :-)

  6. Yes, there is quite a few of us on here with March/April submissions that are still waiting. I don't think I could last 6 months! I thought being a young, single man might mean my visa was granted quickly - obviously not! Yeah, not great that I have to give a term, just going to wait and see what happens over the next two week and make a last minute decision!

  7. The problem is, there seems to be no real patterns, so it's near impossible to estimate a grant date. It does certainly seem that those who preload meds/Police checks do get their grant alot sooner. I think for all of us who submitted Feb/March a June/July grant is probably more realistic. I'm still 50/50 about whether to hand my notice in a work (im a secondary school teacher). I have 2.5 weeks to decide other i'm there until xmas!

  8. @Mrwilson Totally empathise with you - it is a horrible feeling but we will just have to sit tight! My medical was finalised on the 13/04 and no word since. Again, no idea if my CO has reviewed it. Surely we won't be waiting 5-7 months?!

@Dragonflygecko Only consolation is that 'no news is good news' and all that. It is very difficult to just put it to the back of your mind. I check my E-mails 10-20 times a day at the moment. It does seem there is a backlog at the moment.

  9. When did you submit your police checks and medicals?

Yeah, quite a few on here who have completed applications around late March/early April who are still waiting, even those of us with COs assigned already.

I was hoping to hand my notice in at work (i'm a secondary school teacher) before end of May to leave in the summer; however, seems fairly unlikely I will have a decision by then!
