  1. Hi everyone and @Izzielizzie @badaich87 @syd2016 @APR15 @Khushi02aug @Elliotkan

Finally it's my turn to post something positive.

I got both my nomination and visa approval today.

Applied both nomination and visa on 14th April 2016 through agent

Occupation is Market Research Analyst - (This is now a removed occupation as per new rules. Luckily i had applied last year)

Nomination got approved first, after which i was asked for employer referral letter (which we submit during skill assessment).

I submitted that immediately and got visa approval within another hour or so.

Few suggestions to people waiting -

My agent did NOT submit form 80. So pretty much what they request depends on your case. I did pester my agent to submit it after reading threads online. However ensure you submit what they need, don't panic on reading other peoples' cases like I did please.

I know the wait is very very stressful, however make sure you do not let it get onto you like it did to me. Staying calm is hard, but try.

If you have an agent try following up through the agent because a couple of times the immix people who received my calls have given me different answers to the same questions and also asked me to contact via agent, not directly.

Thank you very much! This forum has been my only support after my family back in my home country.

I will pray for all of you waiting. Cheers!

Does any one know how the application for DE will be treated for the applicant's whose skill is no more in the list post 19-apr notification but the applicantion was lodged prior to 19 Apr? Skills such as policy and planning manager, conveyancer, marketing research analyst are removed from the list.

I understand from official notification that application lodged for the removed skills under DE before 19th Apr will not be impacted but curious to know if someone has any other input on this aspect?

    @syd2016

I lodged last year in April 2016 as a Market Research Analyst. My MA has informed me that the applications lodged prior to the changes will not be affected. However, I do feel that such removed occupations are taking hell lot of a time for approval. For example, I am waiting since so long. Also, the fact that when I last called immigration they said the application won't be allocated anytime soon. Is your occupation removed too? Is anyone in the same situation like me? Thanks!

Thats what i was trying to tell few days back that we should call through our agent and someone got very angry on me on this forum ..i felt so bad n hurt...i was trying to help everyone who's waiting since a long period n facing anxiety or depression..calling immigration again n again is not a solution... anyways thanks for ur post mate otherwise someone made me  feel as i was trying to mislead...good luck everyone

Khushi02aug Oh! I wasn't aware of this. Its an open forum and you can voice your opinion. All we can do is share information or give suggestions based on experience. You were only trying to help others, don't feel bad or hurt. Good luck mate!

  5. Hi to all those waiting since over a year. I called the department today and the guy who received told me clearly that my case has not been allocated until now and will not be allocated anytime soon. He asked me whats the urgency. And obviously my reply was that its been one year and i am tired of waiting. He also mentioned that since i have an agent, calling the department for status updates is not going to help me in anyway and the best was to contact the department is via the agent. I have a feeling that because my occupation is removed from the list, they are probably waiting for the new financial year to allocate my case :(

My suggestion to you guys is that if you have an agent, try to contact the department only through them.

Can you share the link to this article please? Is it published by the department? Thank you!

Well I called to immigration twice a month from last 3 months but they are giving me same answer like they are processing still February last year so hopefully yours is very soon . Every time they are giving same answers. It's really frustrating.

@Dale_g I can totally understand your frustration. There are other people on this forum waiting since Feb-April 2016 as well. We have been calling the department and getting the same response. Each time they say it should be allocated in another month but nothing ever happens. The only option they have left for us is to wait. However I wonder, how long do we wait - indefinitely?

  9. @October 16 -- can you please provide me more information on : 'Also depending on your occupation your application can be processed before or after a certain DE application of the same month'

Like can you re-direct me to the link which talks about this please or any extra information you have? Many Thanks!

Hi @Aussiepr, what do you need to know?

All we can say about DE is that it is not de-prioritized but because takes longer their are behind when compared to TR.

Also depending on your occupation your application can be processed before or after a certain DE application of the same month.

    What is your timeline?

  10. @Izzielizzie, @badaich87, @April16 ----> So I don't know whether to feel sad or satisfied with the new updated timelines. Because some of us have already hit the 11 month mark and still waiting, which would mean we may be in the 10%. Best is to avoid negative thoughts, however, each day this process only seems to get more complicated.

@jess6 - good decision. I agree with your analysis and think if I fall in the 10% may be i am queued for next year :( Good luck to you! Hoping for the best for all of us waiting since so long. Take care.

Regarding the remaining 10%, I think it is really important to remove yourself from these thoughts as you do not know the circumstances and details of certain cases. The cases could take more time because of various reasons (health, age exemptions or other things we do not know).

Regarding the cap, if your case is not processed in your financial year, you become a priority case on the following financial year.

Now if you think about it, most people do not come on this forum and simply enjoy their life without worrying about the process :)

Now that I have an update about the timelines I will only come back to the forum when I have news. Until then I wish everyone good luck and also congrats to all approved applications.

    Cheers guys!

  11. @Izzielizzie

Yes we have hit 11 months and soon it will be 12. As much as we try to be positive, this process seems to not respond. I have not received any update from my MA and have not bothered to reach out to them either because i already know the replies i will receive, both from the MA or the department. They keep saying that they are understaffed, however, that is no reason to keep people hanging for one year without any notification. And if they really are understaffed then applications should be processed on first come first serve basis and if some case is complicated they should just notify saying this will take time to process so hold on. Receiving some outcome is better than receiving none. So basically the processing timeline says 6 months for 186 visas and we have already almost waited for double the time without a single notification. How much more ridiculous can it get? I know our cases are strong with all documents uploaded and such like. However, in case they thought our cases were complicated and left them for later, how complicated can a case even get that they can't even just send one update in 12 months?? My frustration and depression have reached its maximum limit now.

    Hi @badaich87, @marianaammon, @jess6, @Vickiw89, Zee14042016 - what a nightmare, huh???

We are hitting 1 year in a few weeks. The good news is, I've stopped constantly checking...the bad news is that I'm no longer expecting to get a CO allocated anytime soon. Just gutted by this unfair process - complete, solid application (at least by their published standards) - but still no CO allocated after 11 months, and NO explanation or helpful input from IMMI. Beyond ridiculous. Contacting them is useless too as they even act like we're irrational and impatient for questioning the long wait.

Also, asking people to please stop hiding the older tabs on our spreadsheet. Those are not neglected updates - there are still many waiting from early 2016 and late 2015. Let's not forget them too.

Dear IMMI, thanks for working hard and for all the PR grants. Please try to remember all the older pending files - give everyone a fair go!

  12. @kirsty160990 Thank you for your quick reply. Guess we April applicants should just wait until they update this automated email to processing April-August. Feeling so sad.

**This is an automated response regarding ENS 186 and RSMS 187 applications. Please do not respond to this email**

Email Updated on 13 February 2017

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION

We are currently allocating ENS/RSMS cases lodged between March and August 2016, however not all cases in this date range have been allocated.

You may be contacted when your case is allocated or if further information is required. Please note that we will not respond to status enquiries.

  13. Thank you for the update Lizzie. I think the best decision is to simply wait. We all have tried calling the department and our MAs and each of us gets almost the same reply, wherein they are still processing march applications. You take care. Best of luck! Will keep you and others posted in case i hear anything.

Hi @jess6 and @April16 - NO CO yet, sorry to disappoint! In my message I wrote, '..that by some miracle, we in fact now have COs assigned to our cases, finally.' - Sorry for the misunderstanding and false hope! How I wish!

By the way, IMMI told me to follow up by the end of FEB so I rang and here's the feedback (BUT take it with a grain of salt since IMMI has been unreliable):

    - They haven't heard of any removal of occupations from the CSOL affecting processing. He even laughed, saying no, it's simply the volume of cases and that he couldn't see any red flags on our application at all.

    - As far as our case is concerned, they're still working on some MARCH cases and that it should be "soon"

    - As to why later cases have been granted whilst we don't even have a CO yet, fella said that it's all different and that in my "group", still working on March. He didn't explain how/why we're grouped. Only that apps are grouped and then distributed. And then, they just pick up the cases according to allocation.

    - Told him our application was lodged complete -- basically decision-ready. He said it doesn't matter and that only has impact ONCE you have a CO.

SO, hope the above gives you some peace of mind. To conclude -- maybe it's because it's via DE, we're from a HR country, maybe my occupation, we're a family? I don't know. Maybe we just got unlucky and our group has a backlog, or too many staff had long holidays...I don't know. But I know I'm tired of the waiting game so I'm going to do my best to sign off.

@badaich89 @Zee14042016, @Gary1985 and everyone else, best of luck, keep us updated! I will update here and on the spreadsheet for sure. I'm there as Iz.

  14. @Izzielizzie and @badaich89 : My MA reverted after contacting the department with a follow-up because I pushed for it. Here is her response. No of much help, but just in case if it makes you feel any better:

" We have been advised the following: We are currently allocating ENS/RSMS cases lodged between March and August 2016, however not all cases in this date range have been allocated. You may be contacted when your case is allocated or if further information is required. Please note that we will not respond to status enquiries.

In light of the above as previously advised we would need to wait till we hear back from the Department. We would strongly recommend you not contacting the Department in any way as this may not be look favourably by the Department.

Unfortunately the Department are severely under-resourced as such the long processing times. No point in stressing."

Hi @jess6 and @Zee14042016 - yes, it certainly seems like ICT and healthcare roles get processed more quickly and based on recent timelines, DE MS ones take much longer compared our TRN counterparts. However, when I look at other occupations like Cook, Customer Service Manager, etc., some DE ones were quick yet others wait a while, for instance @Gary1985 has been waiting for a CO since Feb 2016. So maybe there's something else?? Do you think that 186 DE applicants already onshore and working in their sponsoring companies could potentially be experiencing delays?? I've been with my employer 3 years now, though I did not fulfill the two years on 457 with this company upon lodgement, hence our DE application.

Wish they could also prioritise the rest of us waiting far longer too. Hitting 11 months soon, what a shocker! But even longer for Gary and the others. There should be more transparency in allocation - for months last year, the automated email was stuck on 'Feb applications' and now it's covering 6 whole months. Weird! Plus, we know that there are files pre-March still pending a CO. If they're understaffed, time to reallocate/hire extra resources to catch up with the backlog, as it's doubtful that 75% are still being processed within 6 mos. In theory, 186 applications are ALL supposedly priority cases. I can understand delays when in progress, but simply not been allocated?? So is time of lodgement basically irrelevant now? I hope we see movement in the older files this week and in the next few.

WOW @zacata, just saw your post and had to edit my comment - that sounds wonderful - CONGRATS on your new life as PR, and best wishes on the new baby! :)

  15. WOW!! Congratulations! Good luck with a new life ahead

Hi guys. We got our Pr yesterday

    we applied on 8/8/2016

    transision

    accountant

    Nomination approval: 20/8/2017

    visa approval: 22/8/2017

    no document required

and for your info, my application is listed as "received" all the way. Then one morning I received email from my MA about nomination approval then yesterday she called back again about our pr application. And to double our luck, my wife gave birth to our daughter just few hour after we got our permanent. Feeling so blessed

To all outstanding august application, your August is being reviewed guys so stay positive

  16. @jess6 : I completely agree with you. I am in the same boat as you guys, waiting since April, DE. I think it's something to do with the occupation. Anyone in the IT industry or with ICT occupations gets approval faster compared to marketing related occupations. To top it we are not even transition. Only if some of us knew this is the case, we would have applied via transition or in my case i could have applied to an IT related occupation coz i am a research analyst in the IT industry. It's all luck. Also there are some more hidden factors which we aren't aware of, however, DE vs Transition and Occupation are definitely somewhere on the list of factors at the top. Just waiting for our luck to shine somehow. At Least some credit needs to be given to people who have applied way before and are waiting without hearing a word from the department since forever!

There are several factors that seem to influence the process. It looks like it depends on the occupation as well.

Basically, if you are going through transition, it looks like it is likely to be approved faster on average, especially if the occupation is in high demand in Australia.

In terms of DE, if you are a nurse offshore or in the education field, it looks like you have more chances to be approved faster than if you are a cook, restaurant manager or a marketing specialist onshore (non exhaustive list).

However Migration Agents officially say that we are all in queues which are processed by date of reception.

Depending on the processing team, files can be processed slower if applications/cases positioned before us are complex.

In a word: that would be just luck factor.

I guess we will never know what is truly going on :-)

  17. @April16, @Gary1985 and @anyone who is waiting since March/April - WHAT IS WRONG WITh APRIL APPLICATIONS? Have they just lost all our data on the online system or has it all crashed!!

I have lost every last bit of patience with this ridiculous illogical process. I contacted my MA again (who refuses to call the department) and today she finally said that the Department don't look favourably on following up on any application. However as an exception she will send a follow-up and see what's going on.

Last week when i called the department, the guy who received informed that the application has not even been allocated yet. He asked to wait until mid march and advised that if nothing happens till then, email the department requesting to process the application.

Any updates from March & April application
  18. @Silverteen: Hi, if you want to go via the employer nominated route there is only one option to apply before completing two years which is the Direct Entry Stream. The other option as pointed out in the above post is to wait two years and go via transition stream. There is yet another option to apply for PR individually which i would recommend - find out if your occupation is on the SOL (not CSOL) and apply by yourself for PR without employer nomination - 189/190 visa. I am an applicant of direct entry via employer nomination and have been waiting since over 10 months with no response from the department. There is another thread which talks about 186 visa processing timelines here and you will see it depends on a lot of factors and getting approval within the 6 month timeframe is very rare. If you apply individually you would spend little more money as compared to ENS route, however you are sure to get approval fast if the government requires your skill as per SOL - https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists/SOL

    Just my two cents.

here is the thread which talks about 186 timeline- as you can see people are waiting since over a year as well- http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=158703&page=3298

I do not want anyone else to go through the torture that waiting for PR is. Hence would suggest please consult as many people as you can before applying. I only wish i had applied individually rather than through employer coz the wait is never ending.

    Hi All,

Apologies if this has been asked previously. My wife, 1 year old son and myself moved to Adelaide at end of November from the UK on a work sponsored 457 visa.

Now we are here we have fallen in love with the lifestyle here. We're convinced we won't want to return home and have thought about applying for PR early rather than waiting for the 2 years for the temporary residence transitional visa route.

Apart from loving life here, we want to buy a home here rather than renting so we can settle further and also already having a 1 year old and another baby on the way my wife would love to return to work once the baby has arrived and she has spend maybe 9 -12 months with the baby, I understand as we're on a 457 visa we wont get any help with childcare and with 2 children to pay for childcare this makes returning to work almost unviable without any help. I understand if we become PR we would be entitled to the same assistance with child care costs as Australian citizens? My wife is a secondary school teacher and even if she achieved a decent wage paying child care for 2 would eat a massive chunk out of her salary.

When looking to purchase a house we were told as we are temp residents we would need to pay $5k fee for FIRB approval for any property purchase which seems like a waste to me as id be better off spending the money on becoming PR.

What options do we have In achieving PR? Im sure my employer would be happy to sponsor PR if that is an option or I could probably achieve PR through skills.

I hope this makes sense but any advice is appreciated! Thank you in advance

  19. @badaich89 : did they tell you if your application has been allocated yet or no?

Hi guys I just called immi and the guy who answered wasn't very helpful as usual . The only thing he said after taking all my details was that they are looking at the files lodged mid or late April and on asking upon few more questions regarding adding my baby on our application he very rudely said u should ask all that from your agent as he should be the one answering all those type of questions, as if they are there to just tell us to keep chasing our agent even if we don't get any help from him.
