Hi Hasc, I hear ya. We've been in Australia nearly 9 years now, too and have had various temporary visas...which is why our patience is really, really thin at this point. It feels like so much of our lives have been on pause while waiting to gain permanent status here.

We weren't able to lodge our visa until about 6 months from the time employer said yes so it feels like we've been waiting since..and in the last 9 years! I hope we all get our papers soon.

Hi redheaven, hope you are still checking this - is the follow-up opportunity 6 months after nomination or visa approval? Also, would you know if direct applicants can follow up? My organisation has staff and MAs for the nomination side, but we applied directly for our visa. Thank you!

I have been reading the messages in this forum for the last week or so, just stumbled across it as I've been getting anxious about my application - but I was very happy today to receive my visa approval and thought I would share my timeline for reference. Good luck to everyone still waiting...I hope you'll all be writing one of these messages soon.

 

Additional note: the MA I used said they could only follow up on the application with the DIBP after 6 months (5/08/16). They emailed the DIBP on 11/08/16 and the approval came through the following day.

Hi, just joined the forum and reading randomly to help ease my worries - yours gives me hope! We've been here for a long time too and currently on 457 waiting for PR hopefulluy sooner rather than later. CONGRATS!

Finally got my PR today. 10 years of my stay in australia, 4years on 457.

Hi everyone! I just joined the forum...realised I needed someplace to track and share angst with - didn't realise how stressful the waiting would be. We have been here many years on various temporary visas and were certainly not impatient with the others. But we have only now applied for PR and have realised just how our lives are here now too. :realmad:

Good luck to us all! Looking forward to hearing more success stories. Hope the pace of the processing picks up..based on the google spreadsheet timeline, it seems slower than last year's?
