  1. Thanks for the detailed info, Bluegrass! When did you lodge? Let me know if you get asked to provide new PCs?

We were hoping for more than 2 weeks given it's Christmas/NYE holidays, and we are visiting more than one place (plus it is so expensive for a family to travel during peak holiday dates) - here's to hoping we get approval sooner rather than later! Plus the wait is driving me nuts.

  2. Hi, hope someone can advice? If we travel overseas on leave pending PR visa grant, will we be asked to get police clearances after the trip? We were set to spend the holidays in our home country (already have valid PCs), plus a few days in another country (still need to get visit visas) and thought 6-8 months processing time was already a stretch. But looking at current timelines, it seems anything is possible..

  3. Hi Flupo2000, depends on your faith in your nomination/employer getting approved, as well as your circumstances.

If you're hesitating and are in no particular rush, unless they ask you for additional items (causing delays), it looks like processing times are largely based on nomination anyway..just my opinion based on the spreadsheet.

Hi everyone, you guys doing a great job by supporting each other.

I have a couple of questions about ENS 186 Visa with direct stream (no 457)

1- I noticed that many people in the forum lodge both applications for nomination and visa at the same time. Isn't that risky if your nomination has been rejected, you will lose the visa fees and medical check fees? When do you go for this case? I know it will save time but isn't it risky?

2- I'm from a low risk country does this affect the processing time for the visa application ?

  4. Hi @Gsha, congrats! Why would they ask for another clearance - has your wife's o/seas police clearance expired already? If so, has she been to that country since the expiration?

    Hope you get PR soon!

Just got a call from my MA. Nomination has been approved and they have asked for my wife's overseas police clearance which we provided earlier as well. I have submitted it again.

    Nomination submitted - 22/12/15

    Nomination approved - 06/10/2016

    Visa Lodged - 08/03/2016

    Visa approved - Waiting

    Occupation- Restaurant Manager

  5. Let's hope they just gave you a conservative date! Automated email response has been indicating that they are working on early FEB applications since mid-SEP - surely, they would have progressed by now since we're hitting mid-OCT soon!

Some days it's disheartening how express entry PR applications have such short turnarounds, meantime currently employed (and sponsored!) applicants living here for years have to wait indefinitely - often beyond the 6-month period. Very stressful wait!:chatterbox:

So I ended up calling Immigration for an update and the lady said its assigned to Team 1 and under assessment and added that the application will not be looked into until the end of this month! :(

She didn't really had an explanation for why its taking so long but did confirm that a case officer has been allocated and no further documents have been requested.

    Hopes are shattered :daydreaming:

186 TRN Visa and Nomination on 4th of Feb

    Status: Received

  6. Hi 'Waiting for PR', I know of a family whose 186 took a year because they included an elderly parent in the application. Main applicant's an academic with a Uni as their sponsor so it was apparently more because of the added family members..hang in there!

Hi, we are 5 members (family) and have applied through a consultant, he is saying that immi is taking time in approving as we are 5 members.
  7. Hi mdgolam, did you provide those documents in your initial application? If you did, that's odd.

If you had not provided them, then it's probably routine as part of the requirements. But May was a while back - from the spreadsheets, looks like average they get back to the ones they request documents from between 30-45 days. Have you tried ringing to ask?

    Hi everyone,

I applied my nomination & visa on 6 november 2015. Requested documents on 16 may 2016. They asked form 80, overseas police clearance & employment contract. Documents provided on 31 may 2016. Still the status is assessment in progress. It's more than 10 months I have applied still no result now I'm so frustrated. Can anyone help me out providing some information.

    Thanks

  8. Hi DDIV, thanks for responding so promptly - very helpful! I will stay up late to finish the form 80s - have been so slack thinking they might not be needed but safer is best, huh?

By the way, was your PC a few months old when you submitted and was that okay?

We submitted our PCs online about two months after lodgement and it's supposed to be valid for a year. No plans to go overseas right now - hopefully they don't ask us to get AFP PCs again?

Thank you! I can't imagine how overwhelming being PRs would be...praying the rest of us get it sooner rather than later. The waiting game is killer.

    Hi Izzielizzie,

Unfortunately my MA hasn't told us to provide Police checks but I did applied for that by my self and got it ready with me so when CO has requested for PCC I had it with me ready.

Overseas police checks are valid as long as you haven't visited or stayed in the country/ies after your last PCC report date.

It is always wise to put the all the evidence with your application to avoid delays. For my instance, I would have got the PR by end of July (I was allocated case officer on 22nd July) if I had pre-submitted all the docs. but it cost me another 40-45 days just because my file was missing form 80 and PCC (which I submitted on 25 July).

In short, if CO request any documents, your file will be in a queue again and it will add approximate 25-30 days/+ more in your file processing time (excludes some lucky once).

  9. Massive congrats DDIV! Hope you are still checking - quick question - did you provide police checks in your original application? We provided with ours and just wondering if they ask for it again (overseas ones take so long to get) or is the 1-year validity followed?

Also, how long was the PR turnaround after you provided the documents? Thanks!

    Hi Aussiepr,

Docs requested were from 80, police checks for Visa application but I also got to know that they also requested benchmark training evidence in my nomination application.

  10. Congrats to all the recent PRs! I have a question RE police checks (PCs)- a number indicate that they get asked for PCs by their CO - does this mean that they didn't provide police checks with their initial application? Or do COs sometimes ask for a second round of checks?

The IMMI website says police checks are valid for a year, but do COs ask for subsequent ones if you send it too early? Or if you're from a HR country?

AFP is usually fast, but it will take us a while to get from overseas so wondering if we should prepare in case - or is it fine so long as it's within the 1-year validity date? Hope someone can advice? Thanks!

  11. I wonder what determines the length of time? Is it the sponsor? If the sponsor is already an approved employer or an established/big business?? Just looking at the spreadsheet and wonder why some get it so very quickly in 2-3 months, whilst there seem to be others that have been waiting since September last year.

as the waiting time for the majority is getting longer,,,it doesnt seem to have much difference for LR and HR so far.
  12. Yes, thank you! I was thinking the same thing - maybe I should quit checking the timeline forum and spreadsheet daily - I think it might be adding to the anxiety. Might log out and just try to pray each time I'm tempted to peek! Thank you and enjoy the peace of mind that came with your visa!

yeah you're right! what a peaceful sleep I had last night, didn't want to come to work this morning LOL. I wish and pray that you all get yours soon but I know this waiting game is extrememly difficult. Try to avoid thinking too much about the visa even its pretty much impossible as I know we can't divert our mind easily.
  13. Wow Nasir, CONGRATS! We have been here that long too - too long so yes, the waiting game is a killer. Your relief must be overwhelming. Enjoy the freedom!!

Alright everyone. This freckn waiting game is over for me now. I knew I'll get my PR but waiting was killing me. Finally I have got our approvals today. I spent 8 years in Australia.

I hope you all get yours soon. Especially aussiepr, mirza, dara and there was another guy I can't remember his name.

  14. Hi Nasir, I see - thanks for replying promptly! Hope IMMI gains more staff working on 186 since they seem to be behind. Curious to read that there are express entry applications that get approved quickly. I thought 186 would be priority since we're already employed and most of the time, living/working in Australia, too.

  15. Hi all, my employer applied for my nomination separately - I have the acknowledgement letter, but not their online login - does anyone know if I can check progress of my nomination without having to bug my employer? I'm so stressed lately that I check every single day...assuming the nomination goes through first, wouldn't mind if I check regularly myself.

    Thanks!

  16. Hi Jobic,

I agree with you - have been obsessively tracking the dates and I agree with your estimation RE countdown from nomination in MOST instances. Frustrates me though as my employer was ready to nominate 4 months before we did because we had to wait for my skills assessment results... hope we all get it sooner rather than later!

I would say from the 12th. My nomination was lodge in Feb and Visa in April, visa granted yesterday. I can only speak for myself but if you look at similar cases from the flowsheet, it seems that many of us had similar scenarios.
  17. In relation to my post above, just wondering if anyone knows if there is a reason that processing times vary so distinctly - from as long as 8-11 months to as fast as 2-5 months! I'm aware that submitting complete applications is a plus, but apart from that, are any of the below indicators of processing times?

    - HR vs LR

    - 186 transition VS direct entry?

    - Type of nominated occupation?

    - Employer - Company size?

    - Employer - Status/history with DIBP, for example, would a more "reliable" company (ie. government, multinationals, etc.) with a positive track record as a sponsor mean that it will be processed faster?

    - Onshore vs offshore?

    - Anything else considered?

Hope someone can shed light, thanks!

  18. Hi Yasaima, we previously tried going down the 457 to 186 transition stream via my spouse too, but it didn't work out. We've had many unfulfilled pathways that were just enough to keep us holding on - to say it's been excruciating is an understatement but we are certainly survivors - surviving with our sanity anyway, ha ha!

In saying that, I'm shocked at how anxious we are becoming - so near yet so far! I wonder what determines the speed in processing times - why some take 8-11 months, whilst others are processed in 2-5 months!

It's only been around 4 months from 186 lodgement but it's been 9+ months since we started preparing and yes, nearly 9 years here now. It's mind boggling. Praying we didn't make a mistake investing this much of our lives here and that this pathway ends positively.:frown::chatterbox:

I would like to stay positive but some days, it's harder. I'm sure many can relate - thank God we have this forum!

    9 years.....that hurts....

For me, 2 years, normal process from 457 -> 186 is already enough for me. I really don't like the feeling that I am constrained. I have seen great ppl, great opportunities however, i can't go for it...
